It doesn't help. Everton fans are a lot more militant and the difference is they're still in the Premier League. We sleepwalked to relegation last season. That's not to demand the owners head, but to demand certain standards on the pitch at least.
-
We were in the same position in 2003.
-
Which is exactly what these rules were supposed to be brought in to prevent. Nobody took the PL seriously though until the Everton deduction. Although Top must have done to not spend in 2022 which looks even more foolish now as we may as well have spent, stayed up and took the hit like Everton did.

Rodgers was playing the passive aggressive 'pay me off' for at least 12 months before he went. He didn't want to be here but wanted the pay off. That side should never have gone down but Rodgers had downed tools.

Even Derby will cheering us on for promotion as we'll break all their records. -

We were close to going under in 02/03 but got promoted. Couldn't compete in the PL 03/04 but the money helped the club. Get promoted, lick our wounds next season, get costs down and our costs under control. The rules will end up changing at some point anyway. -

What annoys me is we were so incompetent that we lost all this money, had this wage bill but STILL got relegated. Everton took the mick with the rules but at least they made it count. They got Dyche in mid season and stayed up. -
I replied to this earlier but it is a key point. I think because we haven't had a long spell in the top flight since the 70s we always accept relegation as inevitable. We don't feel like we belong as a permanent fixture in the top flight, there's no big club mentality. There's more of a one at Forest and they hadn't played PL football since the 90s before this season. That is ultimately why we look like going down and Everton will stay up. They refuse to accept relegation as a club and a fanbase. There's no way Lampard would have been given another 10 games and then replaced with a nobody.

Manager for the Championship rebuild - who do you want?

Even so, the only team concede 9 at home in the PL. We were good but weren't that good. -

Lost 9-0 at home to a Brendan Rodgers team. -

Potter is more of a steady version of Rodgers. Rodgers does well for a year or two but is terrible at building a team and with transfers so it unravels. His teams always finish the season terribly as well. Potter plays a similar style and builds a team gradually, like he did at Brighton. His main weakness seems to be that his teams lack goals, which is obviously a huge flaw given the objective of football, but his teams XG is always high. -
Had a look on Rawk and they were all fuming at Dean Smith playing for a draw. They're desperate for Everton to go.
-
This is a big part of it. There's no big club mentality. Evertonians refuse to accept relegation and demand better.
-
The season we reached the CL quarter final as PL holders Cov finished 23rd in League One getting 8000 crowds.
-
They just fired up their end.
-
Mourinho just did a number on Rodgers, he's too wily for him. Looks like West Ham will have a better chance at it this year.
-
Potter isn't an impact manager, takes him time to implement his style, which he was never getting at Chelsea and isn't ideal to throw into a relegation battle. Stay up and you could say get him in the summer.
-
Everton only stayed up because their fans turned Goodison into a bear pit (and they were out the bottom 3 when Lampard took over anyway). Rodgers gifting them 3 points helped as well, he only won 2 away games in his year there.
-
I feel sorry for Brendan tonight, like a lot of fans. He can't make them put their chances away. What more can he do? He's trying his best.
-
We've lost sight of our purpose and strategy and clubs like Brighton and Brentford are doing it better.
-
It was beating Forest that kept him in a job. Should be long gone.

Strangely he's scored only 2 FA Cup goals for Leicester in 10 years -
Rodgers sends warning to unhappy players

And why would they sign under a manager who doesn't want to be here himself? -
It's typical Rodgers though. He/his teams can't react to setbacks. Hammered MK Dons in the cup which continued the momentum. Newcastle at home, mistake after a few minutes and heads go down. Go to Anfield and dominate against what was a poor Liverpool team and are 1-0 up, then an inexplicable own goal and the heads drop again.
