  1. https://www.caughtoffside.com/2024/10/20/facundo-buonanotte-transfer-liverpool/ Salah replacement? Liverpool ready to move for €30m-rated Premier League winger Posted by Mark Brus3 hours ago Salah replacement? Liverpool ready to move for €30m-rated Premier League winger Facundo Buonanotte in action for Leicester City (Photo by Ryan Pierse/Getty Images) Liverpool are reportedly eyeing up a potential transfer move for Brighton winger Facundo Buonanotte, who is currently on loan at Leicester City. The talented 19-year-old is impressing in the Premier League at the moment, and it makes sense that bigger clubs might be starting to take notice of his performances. According to Fichajes, Liverpool are alongside Manchester City as being keen on Buonanotte, who could be available for around €30million next summer, something the report suggests LFC would be willing to pay. It perhaps makes sense for the Reds to be looking at wingers on the market at the moment, as they might soon have to think about bringing in a long-term replacement for Mohamed Salah, who is in the final few months of his contract at Anfield. While it won’t be easy to replace Salah at Liverpool, it could be smart business by the club to move for a talented young player like this to bolster their attacking options for next season. Arne Slot already has more proven players like Luis Diaz, Diogo Jota, Cody Gakpo and Federico Chiesa in that area of his squad, so the options are there for him to cope reasonably well without Salah, especially if he adds another talented young player to add a bit of X-factor to the side. It seems clear that Buonanotte has a bright future in the game, and Brighton have often been willing to cash in on their top performers after bringing them in, developing them, and seeing their market value increase. Liverpool notably signed Alexis Mac Allister from the Seagulls just over a year ago, so they’ll hope to do another deal with them here for this exciting Argentine who’s really dazzling with his performances on loan at Leicester so far this season.

  4. Ace Records · Follow 4d · Here, There And Everywhere: Black America Sings John Lennon, Paul McCartney and George Harrison will be released on CD, 2LP Vinyl and Rough Trade Exclusive Red & Blue Vinyl on 29.11.2024 Known for their shared love of black American music, the Beatles’ versions of songs by the likes of the Miracles, the Marvelettes, Arthur Alexander, Barrett Strong, the Isley Brothers and more provided an entry point into soul for many young Brits in the early 1960s. As their fame spread across the Atlantic ocean. It was inevitable that their music would start to impact on the musical worlds of soul and jazz in the shape of multiple covers of their hit singles and album tracks. Ace has issued two previous highly acclaimed and strong selling collections featuring ‘Black America Singing The Beatles’, and “Here, There And Everywhere” is Ace’s third compilation of Soul and Jazz reinterpretations of classic Lennon, McCartney and Harrison copyrights – and the first to be issued on double vinyl, as well as CD. This time we have extended the series’ remit to also include post-Beatles songs by John, Paul and George among our strong selection of goodies from the Fab Four’s golden decade. All of the featured songs are exclusive to this volume, as are most of the featured artists. There’s an extended Motown contingent – appropriately enough, given the ‘Loveable Moptops’ early appreciation and promotion of Motown before the label had enjoyed even one UK hit - and the repertoire here spans almost a quarter of a century of Beatle and post-Beatle covers, from 1964 to 1988. Ace Imagine’s that anyone who has purchased the previous two volumes will need no persuasion to add a third one to their collection! It’s also ideal as a stocking filler for Beatles fans arounds the world. 1. CAN'T BUY ME LOVE - Sam Fletcher 2. YOU NEVER GIVE ME YOUR MONEY – Sarah Vaughan 3. I know Pierpoint gets a bad press on here but I've just started reading his book and I think it would benefit all LCFC fans if those currently running the fan related sides had a good read of it. Sure the guy was there to generate £s for the club but he always looked to have the best interest of the fans in mind. I'm sure he would have been in front of the queue to get standing areas fitted.

Did not see the game as I was locked out with hundreds/thousands? of other fans and one of the reasons I'm never optimistic about us. Just found this. Leicester City 4 Manchester United 3 Tuesday 16 April, 1963 Goals: Heath, Keyworth (3) The legendary 'The Ice Kings' side regularly challenged for major honours and earned Leicester City a reputation for attacking football. On an Easter Tuesday in front of a capacity crowd, City defeated Man Utd 4-3 just a day after they had drawn 2-2 at Old Trafford. Leicester started the game equal on points with Tottenham Hotspur at the top of the table. Man Utd, despite the presence of Nobby Stiles, Law Denis and Bobby Charlton, were fighting relegation. Reserve Terry Heath, in for the injured Mike Stringfellow, put Leicester ahead in the 29th minute. Law equalised two minutes later. In the second half, there were four goals in six minutes. Ken Keyworth netted a six-minute hat-trick between the 50th and 56th minutes – all of his goals came from Howard Riley crosses, with Law scoring his second in the 52nd minute. Law completed his hat-trick 17 minutes later. Leicester went one point clear at the top of the table with five games to go, eventually finishing fourth and they lost to United in the FA Cup Final five weeks later.
  13. https://www.leicestermercury.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/duo-watched-steve-cooper-keeps-9638690 Duo watched as Steve Cooper keeps close eye on potential Leicester City stars The Leicester City manager has highlighted the importance of loans spells and says he and his team are regularly watching those on temporary deals away from the club ByJordan Blackwell 07:00, 17 OCT 2024 Steve Cooper’s staff have been to watch Ben Nelson and Tom Cannon in action with the Leicester City manager keen to keep tabs on the club’s loanees ahead of potential futures in the first team. Nelson and Cannon are two of 10 players City have out on loan this season with a host of prospects given the chance to improve with what they hope will be regular senior football. And while his focus is on the players he’s coaching at Seagrave, Cooper is eager to keep up with how the loan players are getting on. It’s also understood he requested January recall clauses be written into all of their contracts. City are currently recruiting a new loans manager, whose job will be to develop relationships with clubs with a view to sending players out on temporary deals, to mentor those already out on loan, and to give feedback on their progress to Cooper. The manager knows that these are players who he could soon be managing in the first team. Nelson, who had been due to link up with the England Elite League Squad (formerly Under-20s) this international break before having to pull out with injury, is particularly well-liked by Cooper. The centre-back has long been earmarked as a star of the future and is unbeaten in his three appearances with Oxford United so far. Speaking just before the international break, Cooper said: “It’s a big part of a Premier League club’s operation now, loans and with a loans manager, monitoring players and keeping up relationships and things like that. We’re all very much involved. “When we can, first-team staff will go to as many games as we can. We’ve already been to see Tom and Ben and one or two others. And obviously we have recruitment staff (going to games). So there’s a constant monitoring of how these players are doing. “These loans can be a really important part of an asset at the club’s development. Sometimes, with a loan, it doesn’t always go as a player would hope. It can be seen as not going to plan in terms of not getting the game-time and the minutes, maybe not playing well. “Look at Tom, he came off at half-time and then scored four the next game. What a brilliant experience for a young player, to have that disappointment of not such a great day and then the high, especially for a number nine, of scoring four goals. We’re all very involved in the loans. It’s an important part of developing players who could become part of the first team.” One of City’s loanees did get international game-time this week. Sammy Braybrooke, on loan at Dundee, was a late injury replacement for the Elite League Squad, but played 90 minutes at Doncaster on Monday in a 3-0 victory over Czechia.
  14. Abbey Road Tribute · Follow 18h · The Amazing Recording History of The Beatles’ “Here Comes the Sun” “Here Comes The Sun” is the most streamed Beatles song with 1.4 billion Spotify streams. Though it comes off as a simple song, the recording was a technically complex and unconventional process. Starting with a melody crafted while playing an acoustic guitar in Eric Clapton’s garden (having recused himself from yet another business meeting), George enriched it with such techniques as running his guitar through a revolving Leslie speaker meant for an organ and having his Moog synthesizer transported to Abbey Road so he could add a layer of electronic sublimity. George first recorded a simple acoustic guitar instrumental demo at his Kinfauns home. He hadn't quite perfected all of the intricate parts yet, which were played high up on the neck with a capo up on the seventh fret, but he was close. Before recording commenced, much instruction needed to be given to George's bandmates because of the tricky timing contained in the song. “He said, 'Oh, I've got this song. It's like seven-and-a-half time,’” said Ringo. “‘Yeah, so?' You know, he might as well have talked to me in Arabic, you know what I mean?...I had to find some way that I could physically do it and do it every time so it came off on the time. That's one of those Indian tricks. I had no way of going, 'one, two, three, four, five, six, seven...' It's not in my brain. So as long as I go (demonstrates), 'OK, that's seven. Got it!'” Once that was worked out, thirteen takes of the rhythm track were recorded onto an eight-track machine, with Paul on bass, Ringo on drums, George on acoustic guitar and George's guide vocals. John was not present as he was recovering from injuries suffered in an auto accident. A harmonium and handclaps were added and George overdubbed an electric guitar run through a Leslie speaker. The orchestral parts (George Martin's score for four violas, four cellos, double bass, two piccolos, two flutes, two alto flutes and two clarinets) were added. George also added further acoustic guitar. The master tapes reveal that George recorded a guitar solo in the bridge which was not included in the final mix. "Here Comes the Sun" was completed with the addition of a Moog synthesiser part. After George had used the Moog on his recent experimental album, Electronic Sound, the instrument had been installed at EMI Studios and became an important addition to the sound of the Beatles' final recording project. “Here Comes the Sun” has made such a cultural impact that Carl Sagan lobbied for its inclusion on the Voyager “Golden Records,” which were launched into outer space with the intent to give other forms of intelligent life a glimpse of human civilization. The Beatles also liked the idea, but they didn’t own the necessary rights; those belonged to the label EMI, who demanded a prohibitive fee for the song’s use. Had it been included, perhaps it could’ve ended up the first intergalactic hit song — one enjoyed in the orbit of another sun entirely.

  16. Leicester Memories David Hutchinson · 2h · Execution of Leicester born Hugh Latimer Hugh Latimer (c. 1487 – 16 October 1555) was a Fellow of Clare College, Cambridge, and Bishop of Worcester during the Reformation, and later Church of England chaplain to King Edward VI. In 1555 under the Catholic Queen Mary I he was burned at the stake, becoming one of the three Oxford Martyrs of Anglicanism. Latimer was born into a family of farmers in Thurcaston, Leicestershire. His birthdate is unknown. Contemporary biographers including John Foxe placed the date somewhere between 1480 and 1494. He later recalled that "my father...kept me to schole" and he started his studies in Latin grammar at the age of four, but not much else is known of his childhood. He received a Master of Arts degree in April 1514 at Cambridge and was ordained a priest on 15 July 1515. In 1522, Latimer was nominated to the positions of university preacher and university chaplain. Latimer joined a group of reformers that met regularly at the White Horse Tavern. He began to preach publicly on the need for the translation of the Bible into English. This was a dangerous move as the first translation of the New Testament by William Tyndale had recently been banned. In early 1528, Latimer was called before Cardinal Thomas Wolsey and he was given an admonition and a warning. The following year, Wolsey fell from Henry VIII's favour when he failed to expedite the annulment of Henry's marriage to Catherine of Aragon. In contrast, Latimer's reputation was in the ascendant as he took the lead among the reformers in Cambridge. In 1535, he was appointed Bishop of Worcester, in succession to an Italian absentee, and promoted reformed teachings and iconoclasm in his diocese. On 22 May 1538, at the insistence of Cromwell, he preached the final sermon before Franciscan Friar John Forest was burnt at the stake, in a fire said to have been fueled partly by a Welsh image of Saint Derfel. In 1539, he opposed Henry VIII's Six Articles, with the result that he was forced to resign his bishopric and imprisoned in the Tower of London (where he was again in 1546). He then served as chaplain to Katherine Duchess of Suffolk. However, when Edward VI's sister Mary I came to the throne, he was tried for his beliefs and teachings in Oxford and imprisoned. Latimer was burned at the stake along with Nicholas Ridley. He is quoted as having said to Ridley: Play the man, Master Ridley; we shall this day light such a candle, by God's grace, in England, as I trust shall never be put out.
