Realistic Managerial Replacements

What makes you think this? -
It's about 4 years since Leicester won a game when there was something riding on it...
-
Agree on the club needing a massive jolt. Disagree on relegation to League One being part of any solution. Top, Rudkin and King Power have presided over a disasterclass; one of the sharpest declines in English football history, from our greatest ever position of strength, with 2 or 3 relegations in 4 years, two of which are some of the most unprecedented and underperforming relegations of all time Being in League One, with less income and tighter spending rules doesn't suddenly magic Top & co into footballing strategists; it won't be some sort of reset or phoenix rising from the ashes moment.
-
Some extrapolations based on recent form... So looking bad either way, but the Last 10 Form does at least make for better reading, with Leicester, West Brom and Blackburn all separated by 0.7 points

You get the impression the club thinks it's above people like Rowett, Wilder etc And yet had we had the sense to realise that we were clearly going to tread water this season (or worse) they should have swallowed some pride and appointed an experienced championship manager. -
We're very likely to go down, because of all our well known problems. Only saving grace is that Oxford and Blackburn are in similar position (albeit with better short term form). Our only hope is that they end up being slightly worse than us. If we do go down I hope we go down by more than 6 points (which appears unlikely unfortunately) otherwise Top & co will spin it as due to the points deduction.

Not a dig at him personally, but I said at the time that this was a bad omen and could be indicative of complacency in the squad
-
If we stay up it’ll only be because Blackburn, West Brom or Portsmouth are worse than us. Portsmouth’s 3 games in hand complicate things - those go badly and they’re right back in it. And of course Blackburn A on the last day id have no confidence over. the most worrying thing is that clearly manager and grit and fight wise, we’ve got the worse situation of the clubs involved

Even if they realise that now, it’s a terrible indictment of their judgement - because why did they need 3 more losses to realise!? -
Why so much time added on?

Realistic Managerial Replacements
Les-TA-Jon replied to winteriscoming's topic in Leicester City Forum
Look mate, they've only had since Feb 2025 to know that they'd be relegated from the PL and would have to stabilise in the Championship with one hand tied behind their back re: signings and players, that's why they appointed a completely safe pair of hands in an extremely experienced Cifuentes...oh wait... And they've only had since Oct 2025 to replace Susan Whelan as CEO, that's why we've...oh wait... And they've only had since Nov 2025 to appoint a technical director and start addressing the huge structural issues at that club, that's why...oh wait... And they've only had since Dec to see that our football and form was only going in one direction under Cifuentes and that his sacking was inevitable, that's why they waited until after the Jan window to sack him, but don't worry because it's not like they've taken 16+ days to replace him at a crucial part of the season, just after getting a deduction that puts us squarely in a relegation battle with a squad of players that are either too young, too disinterested or too past it...oh wait... -
Re-signing Vestergaard and contract extensions for the likes of Choudhury and Thomas are less about individual quality and more about backing ourselves into a corner - we knew we didn't have many/any funds for new signings, so to keep squad numbers up you have to keep dross around for longer than you 'should'
-
Didn't Kieran Maguire recently say that whilst it's PL standard practice to have a low basic wage topped up by lots of performance based bonuses, LCFC were an outlier in having high basic pay as part of their contracts? If true, it's not safe to assume that just because something is 'standard practice' for the industry, that we're doing it.

To be fair - that did happen over a period of 10 years though - so around £45m a year on average. I'm not giving KP any sympathy or excuses though.

Realistic Managerial Replacements

It's not so much that we operate like it's our first time - it's that we decide to sack the current manager in isolation about who the replacement is. I'd rather have had Cifuentes in charge that King the last 2 games. Surely the board meeting that decided Marti was gone had to also discuss 'OK but who are we going to get in and how close are we to appointing them?'. We seem to only start the process of identifying, let alone appointing, a replacement after we've sacked the previous guy. Is there some sort of employment law that prevents us from sounding out replacements before we sack the current manager? I've no idea how to build the dataset for comparisons, but I wonder how long most other clubs take to appoint replacements? Surely they don't take 2+ weeks like we do? -

We don't need someone for the future, or a building or someone who has some big grand strategy or philosophy that takes a while to implement. We simply need someone who can galvanise a squad whose confidence and mentality is on the floor, for 15 games, to keep us up. I worry that the club will turn its nose up at 'solid' Championship managers and/or be deluded/complacent enough to think they're not in a relegation battle when they are. -
6 clean sheets in the last 69 league games 11 clean sheets away since August 2022... And by season, streaks without a clean sheet: 22/23: 21 games 23/24: 8 games 24/25: 27 games 25/26: 25 games (currently ongoing)
-
Incorrect. The average for finishing 21st over the last 10 seasons in the Championship is 47 points. And of course the 'requirement' for staying up could be slightly lower than that average, depending on any gaps between 22nd and 21st. For this season, it's looking likely 47-50 points is required to finish 21st: West Brom trending for 49 points, Blackburn 48, Oxford 42.

There's still time to delete this

Relegation update: Current table, with expected points on the right column (based on PPG so far). Has us finishing 20th, West Brom 21st and Blackburn, Oxford and Wednesday relegated. But as you can see there's only 3 points in it, so with 15 games to go and our form over the last 10 games (see below) - we're on incredibly thin ice. Just got to hope that Oxford and Blackburn keep struggling and/or we get a mini bounce from the new players/new manager.

Why do people keep parroting this idea that relegation to League 1 results in a sudden clear out of the owner, top brass and most of the squad? Top won’t sell until he get make the club more valuable again, and less income and tighter spending rules won’t make us suddenly better run, will it?
