I'm pretty much Cooper Out - and I think he's not a good coach, manager or tactician. And we're (slightly) underperforming under him However, we've averaged around a point per game - are 3 points above the relegation zone and there are 5 teams doing 'worse' than us - is it really a surprise that he's still in a job? As much we may or may not want him gone, it seems unlikely they will make a change whilst the above is true...
-
For all the calls for X, Y or Z random/upcoming name from the continent - Note that this ownership has never appointed anyone who didn't already have previous managerial experience in English Football...
-
Also there's only 4.9 points of "whatever" between the most and least difficult anyhow. It's a 5.7% increase from 85 to 89.9 - whether that's 5.7% more difficult, I don't know, because not sure how "Opta Power Rankings" are calculated
-
OK here we go Add "required to stay up" data. I.e 18th place finish +1 point (because it's way too complicated to try and account for GD). Headline is: 17th place finish average = 37.8 points "Required to stay up" average = 35.8 points
-
Are we really saying Rodgers didn't get a payout when he left?
-
Yes - I listed the 17th place finishes, not the 'points required to stay up'
-
Absolutely this. Think the board hoped they could stay up and avoid the huge cost of sacking Rodgers. Given we only went down by 2 points, it was the 'right' decision. The most costly thing they probably did that season was sacking Rodgers and not having a replacement lined up straight away. Given we chucked away 6 stupid points in the Villa and Bournemouth games before Smith was appointed. I also guess, on that basis, there's a reasonable case to make that we might have actually stayed up, had Rodgers stayed in charge, given we were just one result away from staying up.
-
This is the standings of 17th place teams over the last 29 seasons We could go something like W7 D7 L14 over the remainder of the season and stay up
-
Bottom 6 with only 6 wins out of 60 matches so far...
-
The next 10 for the bottom 6, FYI Fixtures vs bottom 6, in the next 10 games: Leicester - 1 Everton - 1 Palace - 2 Southampton - 2 Ipswich - 2 Wolves - 4 The next 10 looks 'worst' for us and Everton? Everton have that run from MD 13 to 18: Man Utd, Wolves, Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea, Man City.
-
That's kinda my point though. To me, "1 win in last 23 league games" is a more 'accurate' stat than "190 days since last win" or whatever
-
They're clearly struggling, but these sorts of stats that use "days" instead of "games" always appear inflated don't they. It betrays some sort of agenda, rather than a more measured approach.
-
I guess, we have to ask ourselves what we thought finishing 15th - 17th would look like? Teams that finish there have pretty bad seasons, with some bad runs and some purple patches. But they stay up.

I’m Cooper Out But we’re getting a point per game, are 5pts above the relegation zone and there’s 5 teams doing ‘worse’ than us. They’re not sacking him anytime soon…

Leicester City vs Nottingham Forest Tactical Analysis
Les-TA-Jon replied to StriderHiryu's topic in Leicester City Forum
Just a random comment on the 3rd goal. I actually don't think it's all Wout. Initially I wondered if the onus is on Mads (since from his GK position he can see the whole pitch and the relative position of all involved) but ultimately the ball is too short for it be his responsibility to deal with and he can see his 2 CBs have it 'covered' Seems to me it's a big balls up between Faes and Okoli. As the ball goes upfield, Faes is tracking Wood and Okoli is tracking the ball - they have it covered. What causes the issue is Okoli just lets the ball bounce, which catches Faes off guard, who then is scrambling to keep tight to Wood as it bounces into the box. -
I’ve been neutral/cooper out, but simple reality is they’re not going to make a change when we’re averaging a point per game and there’s 5 teams doing ‘worse’ than us
-
Just note that for all the talk of 'wheels coming off' at the time, had all the games been played simultaneously, we were never not top after going top towards the start of the season...
-
Won't like it how? Because you think it's good for Cooper or bad for Cooper?
-
Sorry, so Ayew is in the team because he's supposedly a better 'defensive' winger and yet Fatawu's defensive stats are actually largely the same or better than Ayew's anyway?
-
Oh for sure, I could it being another desperate loan - but if the idea was to sell Cannon to add to the coffers and then buy a striker for £10m-£20m then I'd be amazed.
-
We've almost exclusively had terrible or fruitless Jan windows under this ownership. I don't see us trying to the most sought after position, in January where value is at its worst.
-
Is he though? Just because we're currently not in the relegation zone doesn't mean we're going to stay up. A lot of the underlying data shows that we've actually overperformed to be where we are. Any regression to the mean sees us slip into the bottom 3. It's not sustainable and over 38 games, we'll go down. Are we tough to beat? We've lost half our games. We're league high for shots conceded. We're league high for xGA. We're 2nd lowest for xGF.

Cooper is choosing JJ ahead of Ricardo - it would be weird for him to back Ricardo so much with these comments
-
The debate isn’t Cooper vs Enzoball is it? it’s ‘is Cooper good enough to keep us up?’ no one has changed the objective of finishing 17th the worry is that, as poor as Cooper has been, will continue over the next 4 crucial fixtures. Even if we sack him afterwards it could be too late…
-
Except virtually 0% of the issues with Cooper are to do with the Forest link - it's to do with his lack of system, inability to properly coach the players, weird lineups and awful subs/in-game management.
