In a side who are going to dominate as often as Benfica they're really impressive defensive stats. We'd do well to get him in on that profile. We've not had a solid defensive midfielder since Ndidi's drop off at some point in 2021.

He isn't the worst ever because Hodgson happened. Hodgson oversaw probably the two worst tournaments I've seen from England. This gaslighting about him being the best though - he's just the least bad. Stop comparing yourselves to previous failures. Puel is a great Leicester manager because he's better than Craig Levein and Gary Megson. Start acting like a top team if you want to win things. If people want to overlook the lucky draws, then whatever helps them sleep at night I guess.

Their reaction to this game sums up why I've no love at all for this England side and that their exit will be pretty soon. They won't change it up against Switzerland who actually look a pretty good side this time around. It's more protectionism, on the defensive, victim mentality. Would be an utter travesty to see this sort of shit prevail. Awful mindset, awful on the pitch. To gob off after serving that up against Slovakia. ****ing hell find some shame. Fans will reign in the criticism when we win a trophy - which even with Southgate's luck you won't pull off playing this badly. The Bellingham goal especially, then ensuing Kane goal is the sort of thing that could serve as a real gamechanger in a tournament. But I think the ensuing half an hour where we again lost our nerve and sat back against a side who would've crumbled, and rhetoric from the game tells me the Switzerland one will be no different. Without a change in course or a freak like that Bellingham overhead kick we're heading for a pretty comfortable defeat I think, and I can't say I'll shed any tears.

It's remarkable how quickly Southgate has managed to instill this into him after a year at Real Madrid. Should be an easyish adjusting period back though for Ancelotti. The entire message through this tournament has felt like a **** you.

They're still on the defensive. Victim interviews and largely awful after going ahead as well. Without drastic changes (which won't happen under this fraud) this is a comfortable Switzerland win. 1-3.

That Spain performance there - just kept attacking a vastly inferior side after going ahead. Southgate is such a coward. Can't even do it against Slovakia.

Sort of thing that you would normally think would be a gamechanger and even after the 2nd we reverted to cowardice when I think a decent side would've put them to the sword. Job done but my god, we're too bad to win this.

What Top has done here is basically what would happen to Aston Villa if Chansiri happened to inherit them. At least he got to parade around a trophy of a league we should've never been in though.

It's one of them that just seems so utterly ludicrous that we couldn't possibly entertain it. But then that's just simply the adjusting period to what we truly are today. Even signing him on a loan deal would seem pointless. Are we cooking the books here? It's the only solution that makes any sense.

I don't agree with the notion that Vestergaard needs "Enzo's system" because by the end I don't think it was even particularly beneficial to him. Enzo's system and Vestergaard in the top flight? Scary hours. He was getting carded and done for pace in the Championship. To be fair to the bloke though he actually looks alright for Denmark a lot of the time.

It's just an unbelievable draw again isn't it. Such a golden opportunity. But I'm really unconvinced. There is something wrong with England this time.

This tournament has gone back to being shite like 2016 in the last week or so. The format has done its thing again. I'd sooner 8 from 24 went through than 16. It's nonsense how much reward there is for a draw.

It's the luckiest manager in football getting another lucky run that will con people into thinking he's a good manager. England having these runs wasted on Southgate is a massive blown opportunity. The difference with this tournament however is we don't look at all convincing even against the weaker sides. In previous you could at least say we were getting by the poorer sides without much trouble. We've been poor in every game so far. We're right set up to lose to somebody 'weaker'.

I see England's draw luck and think that there's a chance he could spawn his way through this. Then I see the actual performances, this sort of narrative, the playing the victim in the media from the players and think we've absolutely no chance. We have every hallmark of a surprise exit. The feel good factor has vanished. We're in a position where we have a fantastic opportunity yet not even the most blindly optimistic believe. It's staggeringly bad. It just needs a Slovakia loss in the round of 16 and he's fully matched Euro 2016. The FA have today cost England our chance of the tournament by not getting rid.

I think this too, which is why it's negligence for the FA to have kept him in the job today. Take drastic action. England have a fantastic potential route to the final and we're wasting it on somebody who has clocked out. Use Southgate's luck to get the good draw and then get a proper manager in to navigate it.

I think most decent managers have us not only in the final, but fairly fresh for it as well after whoever we'd face have had a far more taxing run. We're that bad though I think even despite his luck we might actually go out to a Slovakia. This is genuine 2016 level stuff at this point. We've got that howler in us. I'm braced.

Really think it is about time this country concedes the fact he hasn't won anything isn't some anomaly. The biggest flat track bully in football.
