  1. It'll be a yes man/woman. They purposely will not bring anybody into the club who will potentially undermine them down the line. They probably couldn't believe their luck when Chelsea came for Maresca, as he was showing signs of it.
  2. We absolutely should not be higher on the performances served up so far. People often ridicule these sorts of performance tables and I guess it's only been 8 games which is a pretty small sample of games, but I heard similar sorts of comments about it in 2022 which as much as predicted we were a relegation level side running hot. Sure enough the following season we went down. On our current trajectory we will drop down the table. The performances simply have to improve. We're not succeeding at either creating chances, or stopping the opposition create chances.
  3. As suspected this is absolutely not what anyone's really after, it's just a symptom of the decline. She needed to go but the reasons aren't good ones. If anything she comes out looking slightly better as a result. All this has done to me is cemented something we knew was inevitable anyway, while preserving the main two overseeing the rapid decline. They're going nowhere. We better hope we fluke promotion this season, it's our last chance.
  4. Can't believe I was having people argue with me about this the other day. 6th in the league and very fortuitously so. We've got to substantially improve to go up this season.
  5. Stolarczyk Ricardo Nelson Okoli Kristiansen Winks James Fatawu Reid Monga Carranza Not perfect but it's something to start with. I bet he reverts to something similar to the WBA game, so welcome back Soumare and Ayew. Sick to death of Faes and Vestergaard. Our defensive numbers really aren't that good - Stolarczyk's actually got the best goals prevented stat in the division which tells you our defensive record is down to him rather than that lot. Okoli I'm not convinced by but I give him a slightly bigger chance of being an asset to us than the other two so run with him for now. Happily see Ramsey start but actually think Reid had a decent game and he's got slightly less of a rap sheet than some of the others, if we're being totally fair, he probably stays in over somebody who got a red card after half an hour on their debut. Give Carranza a run. He's looked shit but he's not played a total of 90 minutes for us yet. Don't care on left back. Don't like either. Priority for January.
  6. We're level on points with Preston and Bristol City - the two notoriously Championshippy clubs. Quite poignant, probably a sign for the future.
  7. Pains me to say it but we aren't.
  8. Cov are the best team in the league unfortunately. This is their year.
  9. Only played 71 minutes so too early, but very unencouraging. What I am quite sick of us doing though is giving very limited opportunities to new signings. They don't need to 'bed in' to a team that's failing. You're really not risking losing much. I'd start him in the next three games and see how he does.
  10. 4 years for Thomas is a damning indictment of our direction of travel. He wouldn't get a 4 year deal at QPR.
  11. Bet he's a Wrexham player in 2026.
  12. The xG numbers over a longer period of time are rarely wrong. Like I'd been telling everyone over the weekend - we've been absolutely mediocre at best. Chances created at both ends are all that truly matters in terms of performance, and then finishing them off in terms of getting results. Passing it around with zero threat is precisely that - zero threat. Our chance creation is bad. Our finishing is often bad. We won't get near the top 6 on this performance level, let alone top 2.
  13. Yep unfortunately. And if you say it after a win you'll get the regime apologists on here bashing you for 'moaning'.
  14. I think he's in genuine danger of non-league, maybe retirement before he's 30. There are real shades of Jack Rodwell. It could be with him that a bad injury just completely knackered him as a player and we were the club stupid enough to totally miss this and cough up that sort of money. In a line of absolutely dreadful deals this is the single worst. I didn't think they would manage to top paying similar for a bloke they failed to even register but lo and behold - the same bloke was still in post seven years on to make this deal. We get everything we deserve. Absolutely pathetically run club - probably the worst in the 92 outside of Sheffield.
  15. Like I said the other day we just play dirge and slow football. We've become the total antithesis of everything we were in 2016 - we're obsessed with unthreatening ball retention. Our chance creation has been woeful for absolutely years now. Even yesterday where I actually thought we did knock it around fairly well for a while, for pure chance creation we really haven't forced much at all. It was probably a fair result on the whole - and Wrexham weren't good.
  16. I'm not getting another season ticket under this ownership. My hand has sort of been forced as I got banned a year ago for letting smoke bombs off at Palace (which I didn't actually do) so I went from the extreme of doing 90% of our games to none of them. I got out at the right time though because what I've really realised is that I just don't miss it. I still see people on matchday anyway, I'm perfectly happy just going into town and watching games in a pub. I actually prefer it at this point - and that's sad. I've realised how much it was force of habit and how little of it was due to enjoyment. I've not truly enjoyed our games probably since coming back from covid to be honest. I've just known something isn't right. I sensed this disconnect years ago. But yeah - I'm not giving this lot any more money. I'd do away games to be fair but if I was unbanned tomorrow I'd not be going to home games.
  17. Yesterday it really dawned on me that there's a decent chance we don't see Premier League football for a good 5 years, maybe a lot longer if the current lot aren't hounded out. That just isn't a team that'll be promoted and if we don't do it this year, we are stuck - needing to be creative, think outside the box, needing to get good value for money, while we still have Aiyawatt and Rudkin running the club. What hope could you possibly have? None of this should surprise people. We were the 3rd team in the Championship to confirm our position in the league and the 23rd to have a manager in place. If you think Cifuentes was some well thought out plan rather than the usual hail mary then more fool you.
  18. Just intrigued to know if this is as common or as frequent at other clubs or whether this is just more short-termism from us.
  19. He's well within his rights to push for a move. Anyone sensible would.
  20. Imperious at this level apparently. Pure crap.
  21. The people responsible for this remain in post. It's egregious.
  22. It's gotten to the point it's almost a bit sad.
  23. It feels so obvious but this just absolutely screams a draw again doesn't it. These haven't lost at home since March.
  24. Very good signing. Took him under two 90s to manage a goal from a central midfield position. Meanwhile Soumare....
  25. He's mostly been getting the line up wrong and fixing it somewhat with the subs. Today it flipped around as he named a line up I was sort of happy with. Nowhere near perfect but lots more round pegs in round holes if nothing else and this produced, for around three quarters of the game, probably our best performance of the season - albeit I think you would have to take into account the relatively weak opposition. The subs were horrible though, totally threw the initiative away and by the time their equaliser arrived nobody was really surprised by it. When you couple the mismanagement of this game with the ever increasing nonsense situation with Nelson you are left with very little to cling onto. We're doing nothing for the long-term and in exchange we're barely even getting the short-term right either. 3 wins in 8 games. Not a single person on here would've accepted that in August. The manager is not convincing me. But as ever the problems were always far deeper. As I feared though, he's lacking the ruthlessness this job needs. It's a pig of a job currently but it really needed something radical. He's never really shown any signs to me of delivering that.
