Not sure why anyone is bothered about these sort of deals. Perhaps it's the word 'loan' causing the anguish. I look at it as a 1-year contract with a much smaller transfer fee and only having to pick up a portion of the wages. If these short term contract players contribute to achieving our ambition of retaining Premier League status then it's a success. Rather have them for a year than not at all. We've been stung far too many times by players out of the Euro Leagues that we can't move on.

Obligations are a risk. The Fatawu deal less so as, if reported correctly, the obligation was reliant on promotion. The club don't want to be saddled with a player that isn't going to make the grade. This season is all about survival. If this player helps us to achieve that then the one season loan will have been worthwhile even if we don't sign him up on a permanent contract thereafter. Fortunately we didn't have an obligation to buy with Casadei.

I'd be more disappointed if we had an obligation to buy. We may well be glad at this time next year.

It was understandable why the players spent most time in front of SK1 but it would've been nice to show just a little bit of appreciation to the rest of us. Mads walked an entire lap, mostly on his own.
