Not sure about routine practice but from officers I've spoken to (not about this case, just generally after watching episodes of 24 Hours in Police Custody) they do ask them what refreshments they'd like (drinks, sandwiches etc). While they're in police custody (whatever crime they've committed serious or not) the officers have a duty to maintain their welfare. If anything if their condition and faculties are maintained it's less likely they can bring up a defence of how they were treated in the unit.

The judges comments say because of the nature and direction of the stabbing, it inflicted such severe injury that medical treatment or CPR would not have saved him due to amount of blood that went into the lung (I think?). Obviously that doesn't detract from the lack of attempt or care shown by the officer. A very stressful and tragic situation which hopefully never has to be repeated or for an officer to come across. The judge referenced the situation officers found themselves in and seemed to sympathise with the officers given the information they had and were being told. They still should have tried to verify more than just shrugging off Henry's comments.

Racism works both ways. There'll be stoking of the fires whenever these incidents play out, but until full facts are known it's not worth peddling any comments that involve racism. In this case, there's no conclusions that deem it a racist offence. Doesn't make it any less horrific.

The mum has been in custody since the incident. The judge made reference to the brother having helped him but it was bad on Digwa's lies. The judge referenced the dad being the only one to try and initially help Henry. If your son comes home saying you've been racially abused you're likely to believe them. I don't absolve their actions, especially mum for cleaning the murder weapon, but the son should hold 100% accountability.

In response to how police dealt with the matter. 'the most important part to avoid societies being ripped apart and before communities start to distrust the police and other institutions is we need a change in culture and enough of anti-white prejudice'. He's turned it into a political thing. His language is divisive and he knows exactly what he's doing. The murder by the Sikh or treatment by the police was in no way racially motivated but he's brought up 'anti-white prejudice' for no discernible reason. He knows his supporters will take that and run with it to, ironically, further drive communities apart.

Farage has come out and said what happened to Henry should be met with 'pure cold rage'. What kind of comment or statement is that? Hate never wins over hate. Violence never wins over violence. It just causes more pain. It begs the question does he see this as an opportunity to peddle more 'incitement' or actually find a way of tackling the problems in society. Cold rage doesn't cut it any more.

A large dagger is what I read. The judge states 'large Sikh dagger' initially then in latter comments doesn't refer to it being a Sikh one, just in addition to the smaller kirpan. I've read it fairly swiftly a couple of times so apologies if that is wrong. I see the Sikh community and leaders have totally condemned his actions and that they are not of a good practicing Sikh man. Rightly and correctly so.
-
Thanks for that. Utterly deplorable reading about his actions and a life imprisonment is fully just. He lied, lied and lied some more without any remorse to doing what he had just done in that moment. Point 27 is also interesting with the judge defending the police's actions in that moment.

Should do it more often. Just invites disgusting comments from all sides.

They usually are in a sheath and strapped around/over the shoulder if one is being carried. They are. But generally this offence and incident (as obviously tragic as it is) feeds into the undertones and narrative that people are now believing in (around skin colour). Sikhs generally are and have been accepted. The WW point is interesting as millions of British Indians, Muslims and Sikhs helped the UK. That point is relied on less and less these days with how divisive society has become. Contributions don't really seem to matter any more.
-
The guy didn't even use his kirpan for this offence. Staggering now everyone is bothered about Sikhs carrying one even though it wasn't even used.
-
Under the criminal justice act Sikhs are allowed to carry it though? And one of the reasons they do so, is to protect themselves. If they use it as a form of aggression or violence without being attacked they they'd rightly be arrested.
-
I hope not. How many attacks with kirpans have there actually been? It's chasing a problem that isn't actually there (in terms of kirpans). Knife crime is obviously a thing and crackdown needs to continue in reducing it. But Sikhs have been allowed to carry kirpans for decades now on the streets. Why is it an issue now? Because it was misquoted from the trial that he used it, which was incorrect? Any responsible Sikh person knows they only use it in self defence or as protection if they are attacked. And for the most part, you'd probably find an overwhelming majority of Sikhs a) condemn what this vile man did to Henry and b) use their kirpan as it is intended.

Plenty today They'll milk it for absolutely no return other than thinking they know what the fans want.

Exactly the reason I prefer League One and why the club took the calculated decision to want to play further around the country in League One. Plymouth being so far away from everywhere else counters any other distance and direction. In fact, League One has a nice spread from NW down to London. PL is too spread out and nobody should want to go to Hull or Coventry again so it was a wise decision.

I don't know a lot either. Plenty of evidence on this site.

Nope. They're still *****.

He's probably already arranged to go to Blackburn. Which makes sense compared to signing for us. How sad a reality that is!
-
Downright pathetic our club have taken over a month to plan for next season since relegation was confirmed. I don't know why I expected any different.

I knew the name changes were coming but this is cringe-worthy and embarrassing. -
I reckon they probably lose a few of the big players in the next 12-24m too. Even youngsters like Ngumoha could go.
