Trying not to be cynical, but a bit worried about this game. We're not creating many (if any) clear cut chances at the moment, and when we do there's nobody to finish them off. I think Ricardo might be our top scorer at the moment? Also a bit concerned about playing a high line against Wrexham. They'll love sitting deep and countering, getting crosses in behind our defensive line for forwards to run on to. I think Vestergaard has played relatively well so far this season, but his lack of pace is going to get exposed. Hoping it all just clicks, but not sure how or what might trigger that at the moment.

I think Soumaré had an okay game, aside from the error that lead to the goal...and a few misplaced passes. But he doesn't offer a lot of drive or energy in midfield (at least not until the last 15), and we really needed a player grabbing the game by the scruff of the neck. I think JJ can do that. Soumaré cannot. -
Whatever happened on the training ground must have been rough, that brace thing he was wearing today did not look fun! At least it's healed up, and seeing him on the pitch I wondered if he would show us anything to give Thomas some competition. I had, however, forgotten that he is poor with bouncing balls over the top..and so it proved. I don't know why, but I had so much hope for him when he signed. Don't understand what's happened to that player, and the one that played well for Bologna not long ago.

Hope Owynn or someone asks why we took off JJ at half time. He was knitting play together nicely at times, and just needed dropping deeper. -

What frustrated me the most about that game was how many times, under no pressure at all, we just passed straight to the opposition. Guys, you're considered reasonably talented, highly paid professionals in your sport. How can you not pass effectively?! -

Not good at all. Started the game well, went behind to a great goal, helped by a Faes/Soumaré brain fart. Then did **** all for most of the rest of the game. We lack ideas. We lack cutting edge. Three draws in a row now. Marti needs to buck his ideas up. -
I'll give him more time, but he's starting to lose me a bit. I don't understand what we're trying to do. No threat going forward whatsoever, and a concerted press has largely vanished.
-
I keep forgetting Ayew is even playing. We are playing alright, but there's no focal point. Ricardo drifting in from right back looks more like a striker than anyone else on the pitch right now. Ridiculous. He can't do everything! As for the goal, Faes shouldn't have gone down, but I think it was Soumaré who completely lost his man.
-
The starting 11, I kind of get. But no place for Nelson, Page, or Aluko on the bench over BDCR and Kristiansen is pretty disappointing. Fingers crossed we get an early goal, make it comfortable, and Carranza can come on to force his way into that 11.

Assist for Sammy!
-
You can see why Ayew has played out wide so much in his career in that sense, as he always seems to drift out that way. I'm really, really hoping Carranza is set to start next game, and that Cifuentes has just been trying to bed him in. Ayew is just not a number nine, and far from the focal point we need to succeed this season. Edit: On topic, you've got to love the impact Monga makes when he comes off the bench. Think the crowd love it too.

Not a bad game. Boro look decent, some really nice passages of play and a great second goal. Quick passing triangles up the pitch and a great finish. Nypan (surprise surprise) looks a great get by them. Throughout the game they were pretty flexible between attacking and sitting back to defend well too. That's 6 league games unbeaten now, apparently their best ever start. WBA looked okay, but really didn't threaten all that much until Johnston came on. I'm sure they signed two strikers this summer, but never really felt like they had a focal point.

Jordan Ayew - NEVER PLAYING FOR LEICESTER AGAIN!!!
CloudFox replied to moore_94's topic in Leicester City Forum
I guess if you look at recent history you could point to Édouard... But there's no way that can happen again. Surely. Please . -
Why do we do this to ourselves each week? I had hope we'd improve for this game, but we look awful. Not helped by Ramsey's sending off, but so many players just aren't good enough. Utterly deflated.
-
How the **** was that a red??? Heavy challenge, but a yellow at best, surely?? That is a terrible decision.

I think "uninspiring" is a tad harsh, but agree with the rest. In the past few games, we've had to dig in and defensively Hamza has done pretty well, hence earning his spot. I think as we progress (and hopefully develop/improve) through the season, Ricardo will be a shoe in if he's fit, because he helps unleash Fatawu as you describe. But we're not there yet. We're building slowly. I think once we get into our rhythm and dominate games, Ricardo will come in more, shine, and overtake Hamza. But for now, Hamza has done enough to keep his place. Agree on passing on that right hand side though—really hope Hamza and Okoli are both working on that in training.
-
Right, exactly. He seems big on team spirit, and building something. Should naturally lean into everyone needing to earn their spot—nobody just gets in the starting 11 "just because". I get the calls for Ricardo over Hamza for example, but so far, Hamza has earned his spot.
-
Bit exasperating to see Ayew start as the striker—even more so as he's been on international duty—but I get it, "don't change a winning team" (much). Glad to see Ramsey in from the start. A shame Nelson and Page have picked up knocks. Hopefully they can get back in the squad once fit again. Here's to a decent performance, with JJ and Carranza coming on to add some icing to the cake 🤞🏻.

I think Rohl probably sees himself in a higher profile role than Sheff United now. Whether that is realistic or not is another thing. I think if he crossed the city divide he'd actually lose credibility. I don't blame him for leaving Wednesday, but the manner in which he did, with such short notice before the season started, was poor. By all accounts the players were not having him when he finally went in for pre-season training. And I think that's something he's already slightly tarred with now. Dyche is probably out of Sheff United's bracket right now, but someone like him to turn the ship around is probably needed. Selles clearly is just not working out—the owners have tried to change too much, too quickly.

Maybe they could use his shirt number as a countdown...? 🤔

Agree with what others have said about Braybrooke's loan: You don't always send a player on loan somewhere because they play a specific style sometimes you send them there to develop certain elements of their game. We know Sammy has the talent and technical skillset. We need to know if he can compete in men's football, with less time on the ball, a more physical battle, and constant competition. Hell, they could also have brought him in because he enables them to play through the midfield rather than just go over the top. Watch this space, I suppose... So good to see Opoku get the goal and assist too by the way. He's had such a rough time since coming back to us from OHL.
-
From everything I've read and watched about him, he just seems like someone who really "enjoys his football", to use the old cliché. Just wants to be on the pitch and making things happen, adding positivity and driving the team forward. All qualities we desperately need. Quite excited to see what he can do.
-
That really does drive it home, doesn't it? I'm sure there are loan fees we've had to pay, but to not have any fees paid for permanent additions...wow.

Alves loaned to Huddersfield - Official
CloudFox replied to moore_94's topic in Leicester City Forum
Really pleased he's got this loan. Would have preferred him to get regular gametime for us, but at Huddersfield he should get that, with an opportunity to build his confidence and reputation. Hoping he smashes it, comes back and makes it impossible not to play him, whatever league we're in. -
Decent interview with him has just gone up. Speaks well and answers feel thoughtful. Sounds genuinely pleased to be here. Asked what kind of midfielder he is, he says ("in one word"): "Everything". So not short of confidence either haha
