This is just getting boring now. Once again bailed out by individual quality. We have no tactics of note, no pressing, no discernible patterns of play. The stats around KM run and sprints is abhorrent too. Every fan should be furious we're bottom of that list. And I'm not having it people saying "that's not Martí's fault, that's a fitness thing, and down to the coaching staff/King from early pre-season." Absolute nonsense—by all accounts fitness levels were pretty damn good with all the work that was put in without a manager. That stat is down to a combo of the manager's instructions, and players not buying into them.

A fair point. I just think he is potentially the difference between us getting relegated this season. And that would be catastrophic. If he keeps us up and continues delivering this season, he will be even more sought after in the summer, when we have time to actually recruit a proper replacement. He is with us until 2029—there's no rush to sell while he delivers value for us on the pitch at a time when we're struggling.

Probably reflective of the game itself to be honest. A relief to win, but a boring game with not a ton to talk about. We've all been stung so many times this season too in terms of seeing glimmers of light or the possibility that we've turned a corner...and then that gets quickly snuffed out again. So perhaps nobody wants to get excited, and we're all a bit jaded.

Absolutely this. I'm baffled why people are so willing to sell when he's our main creative asset. 7 assists and 4 goals this season I think? He is frustrating because he can be wasteful or makes poor decisions at times, and I think that's what biases people's perceptions of his play. With good coaching and a proper centre forward to play off of, he'd do so so much better. I also think people are forgetting that it's not impossible for us to get relegated still, so we need all the help we can get this season 😅.

I honestly think he looks faster than Daka...and that attempted pass to Ramsey early on looked pretty promising to me. Ramsey just wasn't on the same wavelength.

So pleased for him. I'd love him to come back here or even go to a League One side to take the step up...but he's doing great there, and what he needs is consistent game time to develop and catch up on the time he's lost to injury. Keep going Sammy. Make yourself a hero at Newport, and we'll be waiting for you to come back and smash it in good time.

Same. Had to triple check the stat, as it seemed far too low! I actually feel relieved when he heads the ball away too, unlike the rest of our CBs, who always seem to head it straight back to the opposition. Nelson seems to knock it miles further for starters.

All the stats are correct compared to SofaScore, bar that the second mention of ground duels won is aerial duels, so just a typo there 😅. They rated him as a 7.1, which sounds about right for tonight's performance.
