Jimbo Posted 18 April 2015 Posted 18 April 2015 I'm just sat on my sofa after a lovely morning walk with my pooches. I flick on the TV, FA cup rewind on bbc 2. they're showing the 2 semi finals from 1990. A couple of tenuous links to us with Ian Marshall and Mark Robins in the squads for Oldham and Man Utd but anyway..... It just made me think how much can change in 10 years! The other semi final that year was between Liverpool and Crystal Palace. 6 years later was one of the most memorable moments as a leicester fan for me, the play off final against palace, I can still remember seeing Nigel Martyns face (minus that tash he had on the footage I've just watched) I was sat on the 3rd row on those horrible red seats at Wembley, the ones with no backs on, right on the corner and watched the ball leave claridges shin, in slow motion and rest in the back of the net. Those of us there will always remember the silence around the ground as the goal was scored, in reality was half a second long, but it seemed to last much longer. In 1990 Man Utd were yet to win a trophy under Ferguson. No Beckham, or Keane or Cantona. 9 years later they went on to win their treble and lift the European cup. Maybe I'm getting older and a bit nostalgic, but it's made me think. Look at how things change in 10 years!! 10 years we've been out of the premier league, 10 years mostly filled with utter rubbish, the odd false dawn and a trip to Cheltenham Town in league 1! 10 years we've waited for this, the Monday night trips to Yeovil are worth it all for this. It hasn't been great this season, it hasn't been easy to take, but then did any of us really expect it to be? Whether you want Pearson or not. Whether you think Albrighton should start or not, should it be 4-3-3 or 3-5-2, none of that matters. in 10 years times we'll still be around, in 10 years time we could look back and remember this, fondly or otherwise. The point is that things change, a lot. We need to savour this moment, this point in time, every game until the end of the season is a cup final for us and we as fans need to treat it like that. We need to really raise the roof. We've waited far too long for these moments at English football's top table. Forget Pearson in/Pearson out, who's plastic and who's not. Who's the better fan, who should be starting etc etc Every player to pull on a shirt needs our backing, be loud, be proud and let's really make a difference. We as fans deserve this so let's do our part
wattolcfc Posted 18 April 2015 Posted 18 April 2015 Well, that's just got me fired up mentally and emotionally for today! BLUE ARMY!!!
shailen Posted 18 April 2015 Posted 18 April 2015 Regardless of your thoughts about Pearson, he has transformed us from probably the worst side that got relegated in 2008 to a record breaking championship winning side. After a ten year absence he brought us back to the PL. The current crop of players are so far ahead of that side, that even if we do get relegated this side have the quality to come back up. We have all the foundations to be a successful club in the long term, which was questionable 10 years ago. Hopefully we never go back to the days of Carl Cort and Barry Hayles up front.
Sunbury Fox Posted 18 April 2015 Posted 18 April 2015 Never mind Birchy, we need you on the pitch before today's game!
