What the World is Scared Of

Recommended Posts

I've got what seems to be a false memory of starting a thread ages ago about what scares people, but I cannot find it so apologies for starting a new one.

I thought this was vaguely interesting.

The main conclusion I've drawn from my less than thorough examination of the figures is that:

The developing world is much more worried about climate change than the developed world, which is much more worried about ISIS, and that China is the place to be because people there don't seem to worry that much about anything in particular.  Too busy, probably.

Good link that, very interesting.

Was very surprised at how low ISIS scored in Israel.

I'm scared of my physics teacher

I'm hoping that's because they've an intimidating character or are a harsh disciplinarian or something, rather than for Saville type reasons

Pure guesswork on my part, but I suspect that they're less concerned about states and groups they can have a scrap with as they've spent their entire history doing that, on and off.  A nuclear Iran is another matter, though

I'd imagine cross referencing the strength of fears against the number of government policies enacted in the name of alleviating such fears would be a very revealing analysis.

Didn't you see that one on the list? It was in between ISIS & Irans Nuclear programme

Think Russia is one, on a rather 'local' level, considering them trying to bypass British airspace security a few times over the past year or so.

They've been doing that since/during the cold war. It's only being talked up because of the current troubles.
