oxford blue Posted 5 August 2015 Posted 5 August 2015 Well, no, of course not, but it seems there's an increasing tendency to do so if articles are too critical. An interesting 10 minutes on radio 4's Media Show today on this topic: http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b0643t5x
Finnegan Posted 5 August 2015 Posted 5 August 2015 Journalists should **** off and learn their place, to be honest. I'm fed up of the power of the tabloids. The media crusade against Pearson was a cracking example, the dog's abuse Bale is getting in Spain is another. They're all wankers. I love football and I love reading about football but journalism needs a massive dose of self awareness and a huge crash back down to earth. Another bugbear of mine is shoving a mic in the face of players and managers just after games and then fining them if they're upset enough to say something a bit emotional about a ref or the FA. **** off you absolute parasites.
Finnegan Posted 5 August 2015 Posted 5 August 2015 PS: except mrrandomsilly, he's obviously the biz xxx
fuchsntf Posted 6 August 2015 Posted 6 August 2015 I think also many journalists go over the top, and some are creeps, but many do good jobs also. Its the bitche personal attacks they build up, on lies and deceit, some lasting years, that show us all , even fans how childish, and arrogant we can be, the fans forums also go too far sometimes in self-opinionated know all comments.
Jordan Posted 6 August 2015 Posted 6 August 2015 I don't have a problem with clubs banning journalists that go well over the line to insult, inflame, or or stir up stupid gossip. But I have a real problem with clubs enforcing all-out media bans in order to be the sole gatekeepers of information related to their club (to squash any negative press whatsoever and/or try to pinch or grab more pennies): http://mobile.nytimes.com/2015/08/05/sports/soccer/english-soccer-club-sets-up-tight-defense-but-this-one-repels-journalists.html?referrer= I really don't know who Swindon Town think they are. Their tiny propaganda machine is going to blow up in their faces. Like it or not, and worthy of it or not, football clubs are popular news topics in their communities and are matters of public interest--things journalists and the media have a professional mandate to try to cover.
Voll Blau Posted 7 August 2015 Posted 7 August 2015 Scary that some think having an independent view of clubs' inner workings is a bad thing. Don't forget this isn't just about tabloid sleazemongers who should learn to be more responsible in their profession. A shedload of good, honest, regional journalists have been banned recently too for doing no more than standing up for their readers/the club's supporters.
ramboacdc Posted 7 August 2015 Posted 7 August 2015 this was on 5 live this morning. swindon now do all press releases via an app cuz they have banned so many apparently.
Carl the Llama Posted 7 August 2015 Posted 7 August 2015 Depends on the case. Stringer for example can have no complaints.
Jordan Posted 7 August 2015 Posted 7 August 2015 this was on 5 live this morning. swindon now do all press releases via an app cuz they have banned so many apparently. It's more that they have banned all journalists because their plan was to release their own news via their own app (which everybody that's seen it says is complete crap).
