fleckneymike Posted 12 August 2015 Posted 12 August 2015 A different approach to kits from ESPN as they look at the kit and sponsorship deals in the Prem. We've some way to go from our 16th position http://espn.go.com/espn/feature/story/_/id/13357293/english-premier-league-most-valuable-kits-2015-16
The Year Of The Fox Posted 12 August 2015 Posted 12 August 2015 I dunno, but last seasons is wank. I cant wear it anymore, it looks like we're sponsored by Ing Pow
Wymsey Posted 12 August 2015 Posted 12 August 2015 This is an area which we really should improve on. It might be 'just a kit', but it can have commercial incentives if done correctly.
Ashley Posted 12 August 2015 Posted 12 August 2015 You raise a good point Mike however, can you see King Power letting the front main sponsor go? I cant.
dmayne7 Posted 12 August 2015 Posted 12 August 2015 I find it bizzare that the sponsorship fee is so low. Such an easy workaround for FFP. Just sponsor us £50m as it's all from the same entity.

The only comparable (as far as I know) are Stoke who are owned by Peter Coates and are sponsored by his company, and Man City and their possibly questionable deal with Etihad. I think FFP do look at sponsorship to ensure clubs aren't overpaying and cheating the rules. If we do progress then the Thai's will have to up their sponsorship accordingly and decide how viable it is to advertise duty free which is only available in one country, and a country which the majority of viewers could never access.
Staffs Fox Posted 13 August 2015 Posted 13 August 2015 Not sure if the two are related but our commercial revenue is probably nowhere near what it could be because of our merchandise availability. I live in Kettering and Leicester is the closest PL team (in fact only Northampton is even close in the entire FL). When I get the train on match day there's plenty of us there and I regularly see City shirts around and about yet you cannot get one piece of merchandise in any shops. You go to Sports Direct or JD and it's all Liverpool, Chelsea, United etc. I'm not putting us on par with them but if you compare that with my home town (Tamworth) the shops are full of Villa stuff (as well as the top 6 clubs) because they're the closest PL team. Why aren't we the same? Our stuff isn't available on any websites other than our own (Kitbag etc) so if you fancied buying an older jersey like last season for example it's ebay or nothing. What happens to the surplus stock? I literally have two choices to get Merch. Buy from LCFC direct and pay postage or queue in the longest queue ever in the store before match day. I know there's a few store in the City which sell some stuff but if you're not from the actual City it's not convenient. It seems we're way behind, we're a Premier League Club we should start acting like one off the pitch as well. You take a local lad into a sports store and all he see's are other clubs (unless he has a City fan dad) he decision is likely to be swayed
Guest bennytwohats Posted 13 August 2015 Posted 13 August 2015 16th isn't that bad for a club of our size surely? We are the 4th most recent team to join the PL so you might argue 17th would be fair. Also look at the way the revenue increases exponentially - there is no argument to expect that we should be racing up that curve any time soon. Establish ourselves in the league and that will surely follow eventually - but not for a while. Also I imagine the lack of availability of our kits is not due to a lack of supply but a lack of demand, let's be realistic here.
