Ecdysiast Posted 20 October 2016 Posted 20 October 2016 That gaame where Kieth wore his tights, was my first ever footy match. Drove up from Lincolshire, was sick in the back of the car. was scaredshitless at all the noise. But watched hime run down the right wing from in his own half, beat at least three, then cut in onto his left and fire home - just like a certain Mr Marhez last year. Him, Glover, Steve Whitworth, the Birch - happy days... I sound like like my dad
Koke Posted 20 October 2016 Posted 20 October 2016 Mahrez is the best player I've seen in a LCFC shirt - and I'm 32.

Mahrez would never have coped with the physicality of the game during Keith Weller 's era... Crunching tackles, quagmire pitches made up of sand and mud etc... And no obscene wage structures!

Back in an age when young kids got games and were trusted. Not wait till they are mid 20's. But Weller that day really pissed off the Norwich fans with that great goal and his celebration.

MattCan Posted 21 October 2016 Posted 21 October 2016 Mahrez is the most spectacular player I've seen in any team's shirt. Period.

ultrafox Posted 21 October 2016 Posted 21 October 2016 It's so difficult to compare players from different eras, esp with the money involved in todays game. Mahrez is special, no doubt about that, and will be a Leicester legend (as will all the players that were involved with winning the PL). But Keith Weller will always hold a special place in the hearts of fans who saw him play. He loved Leicester and was a true leader and captain for the club. A great role model for younger players and a wonderful entertainer along with Wortho and the Birch, et al. I know a lot of the younger fans will not understand this (esp as the team he captained never won anything significant other than the Charity Shield and 2nd Div Championship), but we had dreams of greatness then and Weller kept those dreams alive! Exciting times!
artursteppe Posted 21 October 2016 Posted 21 October 2016 Keith Weller is still my favourite ever Leicester player. Lots of talk about Liverpool and Weller. Has someone said Keith is one of the very few players to ever score a hat trick against Liverpool. Home match, I was there at Filbert Street, I remember one absolute screamer into the top right hand corner, marvellous. Love Riyad as well.
