dmayne7 Posted 27 September 2015 Posted 27 September 2015 Watch the 3rd goal. Kasper comes flying out to meet it and misses if completely. Blaming the defence for that Kasper's mess up is just as wrong. I think King was absolutely worth that in the context of the game. It's not that he kept giving the ball away or anything, but there were 5 or 6 occasions when he was on the ball on the counter with Arsenal players scarpering back and instead of running forward or playing a through ball as he should've done, he dwelled on the ball and then just played it out wide and gave Arsenal defenders a chance to get back. He completely broke up the impetus of several counter-attacks. I like King, but he was completely the wrong player to be playing when you're 2-1 down to Arsenal and trying to counter attack against a pacey side. I'm sorry but if you think that chipping a ball 10 yards in the air over 6ft+ defenders with a full back playing them onside you've lost the plot. He stays on his line and then Sanchez can put that header anywhere and still score. I'm not saying King played well but baring in mind the lowest rating is a 1 (I've never come close to giving somebody that), a 2 is surely only deserving of somebody who makes 2 or 3 errors that cost goals or misses about 5 sitters. It was his worst performance in a long time but he didn't exactly make loads of mistakes. Still played a few nice balls in the channel.
cjslcfc Posted 27 September 2015 Posted 27 September 2015 Drinkwater absolutely superb yesterday. Turning into a cracking player. Vardy also class. Drinkwater just shades MOTM for me though. The rest were a much of a muchness apart from Schlupp who and Huth who had shockers.

Sampson Posted 27 September 2015 Posted 27 September 2015 I'm sorry but if you think that chipping a ball 10 yards in the air over 6ft+ defenders with a full back playing them onside you've lost the plot. He stays on his line and then Sanchez can put that header anywhere and still score. It's not even not staying on his line, even if he closes down and makes himself big he's got a good chance of saving it, even if he does one of his starjumps he has more chance of stopping it, but diving in to punch it when he was absolutely nowhere near the ball and Sanchez is miles closer was terrible decision making he takes himself out of the equation altogether by making himself small and being in a position where he could never save it. I'm not sure how you can defend Schmeichel at all on that goal. It was dreadful. If it was Ricardo or Chris Weale doing that they'd have been slaughtered for it for weeks.
Kitchandro Posted 27 September 2015 Posted 27 September 2015 Schmeichel - 5 - Maybe being harsh but I think a couple of the goals were questionable from his point of view. Beaten from a long way out and by a midget with a header. De Laet - 4 - Poor. He's annoying to watch. Morgan - 6 - Not too bad in general Huth - 5 - Not his best game Schlupp - 2 - Not only poor but very lazy. For a left back his tracking back was unacceptable. Needs dropping for Fuchs. Or play him as a wing back FFS. Mahrez - 3 - Not his day at all Drinkwater - 5 - Slowed the game down too much. Needs to think forward quicker Kante - 9 - Looked different gravy again Albrighton - 7 - Drifted in and out but put plenty of dangerous crosses in Vardy - 8 - Probably should have scored the header but can't complain too much, two well taken goals. Okazaki - 5 - Did ok but wasn't really a goal threat Ulloa - 6 - Thought he made a bit of a difference Kramaric - 6 - Ok but should have scored King - 5 - Tried but didn't really have the impact desired.
Captain... Posted 27 September 2015 Posted 27 September 2015 6s all round except Schlupp and Mahrez 5 Drinkwater, Albrighton and Kante, 7 and Vardy Motm 8 I knew before the game Arsenal had the players to hammer us if we started chasing the game, but despite that and the score line we had them running scared at times. To be honest I don't mind losing the way we did, we took risks took the game to them and we could have gone 2-0 up. They were just too good for us, a real shame they scored just after Vardy hit the bar, would have been great to be able to just soak up the pressure after taking the lead and killing off the game until half time, but that isn't our style, you live by the sword you die by the sword but it was an entertaining fight. We didn't deserve to lose and I'm hoping the players will take heart from the good stuff and learn from the mistakes. It was great to be sitting close to union FS and get caught up in their continuos noise even at 5-2 down. All this will be irrelevant with a win and clean sheet next week.
Steve Earle Posted 28 September 2015 Posted 28 September 2015 Vards, Drinky & N'Golo all 7s (probably 7.5s!) Schmeichel, Albrighton, Mahrez, King & Ulloa all 6s Rest 5s. Claudio needs to learn and learn fast that you can't play 4-4-2 against the top 4. same mistake Man City have made year after year in the CL. But I personally don't think three CBs is the way forward either; would prefer 4-3-3 with the players we have.
