Break ups

So ... Been over ten days and I'm moving past this. She's intent on meeting up for food and drink. But I dont feel that's in our best interests to much pain to be had. So declined that and she's majorly pissed to the point she's grabbes the rest of her shit and I ain't here's from her since. I think it's time to bring my old self back.

Good lad

Don't go back if your gut feeling is it's wrong.

I always found it's the spare time that makes you want to fill it with a void and when the only option is what was before. You tend to go back.

Just broke up with my girlfriend last night - second time for us.  We do love each other, but our communication was lacking and I've been through a bad bout of depression that was too hard for her. We've decided to stay on as friends and keep in touch, with the thought of getting back together if i can get my head straight. Strange place to be, but a little easier than cutting all ties (for now).

Normally I would be putting on the headphones and listening to Dry Your Eyes over and over. But nah, today it's gotta be Love Will Tear Us Apart

Sounds lile its something you could work out given time. Probably best to get happy in yourself and then see if the relationship can be restarted fresh. Depression is a terrible illness.

It's clear it's not working mate so j would just sack her off and forget about her, I wouldn't even bother keeping in touch. Harsh but best for the long term.

Get back on the saddle and get on with life, fvck living in the past, we ain't Liverpool fans!

Have you ever considered a career as a counsellor for Relate?  :D

Haha, fascinating.

All this talk of "trust" is down to one thing, and it's nothing to do with love. It's down to your own insecurity. We all have insecurities but until you've faced them you'll never get over them or stop them being a threat.

When people talk about "trust" they're really talking about "rules". And "rules" are like leashes on dogs, they're designed to stop the dogs going anywhere but where you want.

And look how many people break up when the trust or the rules are broken, get onto another relationship and break up for the same reason later down the line and all because they desperately need to be comfortable, unchallenged and in control.

But if a relationship only survives "on condition" that's not love - it's a restraint. Some make such strict rules they daren't let their women out of their sight.

Love to me is wanting to be with someone whatever and accepting them for exactly who and what they are. People may doubt me but I've never broken up with a girl in my life.

No, I've not had lots of girlfriends. But those I've had I love to this day, including my wife of over 50 years.

We weren't always fat and wrinkly.

My wife was absolutely stunning as a young woman. There wasn't a straight man born who ever met her and didn't fancy her.

As time moved on I worked abroad for fairly long periods.

Sometimes she came with me, other times she stayed at home caring for our firstborn and earning a few bob serving drinks in a night club come the evenings.

When back together we never even touched on the subject of what we did or who we talked too in what were extremely sociable situations on reflection.

We just got on with enjoying each other's company as we always did and always have.

If she ever taken the comfort of another guy I didn't want or need to know.

It's compliment enough that she chose and still chooses to live her life with me and has made me so abundantly happy in doing so.

We've stayed together because we enjoy it, not because we ever wanted to make the other a prisoner and I give thanks every day that those feelings has never changed.

So my very simple advice....

Don't make rules or let your life be governed by the burden of expectation. Love people unconditionally and for themselves not some ideal you want to mould them into.

Insecurity will tear you apart in the end, so don't entertain it.

Oh yes, and get a girl who makes you laugh. :D
