LCFCABC Posted 18 November 2015 Posted 18 November 2015 Morning all I'm looking for an architect to draw up some plans for a proposed extension to my house. The plan is to convert a conservatory into a two storey extension on the side of the house - possibly need planning permission but may be able to get away with it. The downstairs will be a large kitchen/living space; up stair will be a new bedroom and en suite I'd be interested in offering the opportunity up to a recent graduate or someone who may be starting out in there career local to Leicester. Anyone have ideas how I best approach this?
Darkon84 Posted 18 November 2015 Posted 18 November 2015 There's plenty around in Leicestershire, it just depends on how much you want to pay, how far you want to travel to meet them etc. A quick Google search will show you. You'd be better off speaking to your local council's planning department first as I'm certain you'll need planning permission to building something of that ilk, and you'll also need plans, elevations etc for your neighbours to prove that your extension won't have any adverse affects on their property. If they oppose it, you can't build it.

Not sure that would pass building regs.

Vardinhio Posted 18 November 2015 Posted 18 November 2015 Probably best not to put the future of your house in to the hands of a recent graduate. Go get that planning permission and get a decent architect.
