chapero82 Posted 24 November 2015 Posted 24 November 2015 We are top of the league for a week and I'm loving it!
maddog Posted 24 November 2015 Posted 24 November 2015 Only four seasons ago Newcastle United finished 5th place.. Awful, lowly Newcastle United. Absolutely no reason why we can't do the same or even better that. The toon were 4 points behind 4th which was Spurs. Ironically that season Chelsea had a rubbish year and finished 6th (history possibly repeating itself with them). Edit: Chelsea finished 2nd the season before and won the title two seasons before their 6th place finish.
Clever Fox Posted 25 November 2015 Author Posted 25 November 2015 I wasn't trying to dampen anyone's enthusiasm for our current run of success. Neither was I being pessimistic, I'm actually a realist always have been. I was merely expressing caution before building hopes up to high. We've performed better than anyone anticipated and surprised some teams while rolling over others. Steadily and quietly climbing to the top of the table. You can be sure it won't be that easy in the second half of the league. For a start all teams will be better prepared for us. Why do I say that experience tells me so. Now before anyone has a go at me I know we will continue to win matches as our style of play dictates that., only that it will be more difficult. Yes we have some very good players but we've had them before. There I say it some even better than the current crop. But there's also other things come into play , Injury to players, loss of form, mistakes, Fatigue and worst of all distractions. All of which we've been lucky with in the first 13 games. The distractions have started already, with stories about Vardy's personal life in the papers yesterday, Questions about CRs and and his previous clubs or lack of success. Stories of how much players are supposedly worth, and who's going in January or even the Summer. In Vardy's case you have to ask the question why now when it seems the story is 2 years old. Who's going to be next topic of conversion. How the Management Players and the Club handle these distractions will determine in some way where we finish the season. How do I know this, because I've seen it all before. One bad tackle, Tiredness catching up with players, Loss of form. One mistake and the blame game starts leading to a split in the camp. This is why I believe CR experience will be crucial in the remaining games. Funnily I don't share other people's pessimism over the up coming few games. I don't think Utd are anything special and can be beaten. If we can get the first goal they'll have to come at us, which should allow us to get at them. Chelsea are all over the place but it will depend on what Chelsea turns up on the day. The toughest game I feel will be Everton away who are a good solid all round team with plenty of quality players. Especially now that they have a full squad fit again after injuries and Lukaku scoring again. I also think we have the perfect team to mount a good Cup run as we're always likely to score. I forecast pre season that we would finish mid table, anything above that will be and added bonus. Do I hope we'll be top of the league come May of course I do. But equally I know there are more forces at play to prevent it happening many of them outside our control.

Neither was I being pessimistic, I'm actually a realist always have been. If you are a realist CF then consider this. The Srivaddhanaprabha family have already stated for the record that, within a reasonable period of time, their aim is for LCFC to be a team competing on a regular basis at the very top of the English Premier League. And from what we know of the family and how they have conducted themselves so far I for one believe that that will happen. At the moment we have jumped forward one, even two steps further forward than was perhaps anticipated at this period in time. We may well take a step back but overall the club will keep progressing season by season. That is the reality so sit back and enjoy what could well become a golden age for Leicester City.

This, oh most definitely this. Come on City, kill Man U tomorrow.
KP Fox Posted 27 November 2015 Posted 27 November 2015 We're Leicester City, we're top of the league, we're playing fantastic entertaining football, we're scoring goals for fun, we got quality not only in first team but right through the squad and you wanna us to be cautious? Get out here! We waited 10 years to be back in the premiership and the single most reason we are top of the league is because we are not cautious. We are fearless! And we're gonna thrash Manu!
(.) (.) Posted 27 November 2015 Posted 27 November 2015 While it's great to see us sit in such a lofty position All we've achieved is the easier part of the job that is getting to the top of the League. The really hard part is staying there. But make no mistake, We're where we are on merit. Nobody gifts you top of the league. Now the real battle begins as it gets tougher from here. Teams will up their game and want to beat us just because we are top Dogs. Distractions will be greater, Media attention will be higher. Requests for personal player interviews. Agents trying to tap up players. All distractions we could clearly do without. How the players handle this period will determine how far we've come as a team. it's very easy for the players to believe the hype and start thinking that they just have turn up to win matches. That's the one area Ferguson at Man Utd excelled at, keeping the players grounded at all times. I'm sure Ranieri will be wary of that and keep them focused. The players for their part need to stay focused and continue to work hard and play in the same manner. While both Players and Fans fully enjoy the ride and experiences along the way. Then come next May hopefully we can all reflect on what is so far proving to be an historic season, Certainly one of the best in my 55 years following Leicester. Keep it up lads. I seriously doubt any Leicester fan thinks we will win the league. Take 1 game at a time then hope we are a top 10 team this season. I personally think we will be.
