Gray v Dyer

Sweet, so now we have someone who likes cutting in from the left and right. Massive positive. Looks like he will be competing with Albrighton and Dyer will be providing back up for Mahrez based on his showing on the left last game.

Honestly, if Gray is worse at this stage than Dyer was on Saturday,  I can't imagine any reason for signing the lad.

Our team needs new pace, energy and self belief.

Dyer looked as if nothing much mattered.

I'm not blind to the value of top level experience and believe the likes of Fuchs, Huth and Albrighton  serve us admirably in their various ways.

But we don't need so much that the batteries run flat.

I just hope the kid's available to us and gets some chances. We need people with the speed, skill and confidence to prise defences apart and the sharp eyesight to shoot competently.

With our team it's almost as if shooting's banned for all but Vardy and Mahrez, for all that people keep blindly singing the praises of those who rarely do anything but pass the ball.

Indeed we're almost becoming the victims of our main scorers' success with other being seemingly intimidated so focused on giving them another opportunity that they abdicate all responsibility for taking their own chances or even getting into positions that give them chances.

Little wonder Vardy's knackered and Mahrez is covered closer than a fanny in a G-string.

And you know this how?! Based on what?

So if Dyer starts to really perform and cements a place in the team helping us achieve our best ever PL finish - I'm guessing you'll still be of the same opinion?

Ramadone either works or has got a good contact at the club.

He's normally spot on when it comes to things like this.

Thrac, has every post of yours since that game contained the word Dyer? haha.

The replies of others have prompted response.

I'd much prefer not to have reason to mention him again and certainly not for anything relating to a performance as bad as against Bournemouth.

If I'd have been in his boots - which I wouldn't  because they didn't seem to have any studs - I'd have been ashamed.

And no, it wasn't just the studs.

Twice he even made three-or-four yard passes down the line look so difficult he passed them into touch and, on another occasion, was so slow to move the ball it's a wonder the defender didn't land him in the Counting House car park.

It gives me no satisfaction. When I saw the brave way he headed our winner on his debut (I think) I honestly thought he'd be brilliant for us.

For those who don't haven't seen him play, play much:

+ Strengths

FinishingVery Strong

DribblingStrong

- Weaknesses

Aerial DuelsWeak

PassingWeak

Demarai Gray's Style of Play

  • Counter attack threat
  • Likes to dribble
  • Likes to cut inside
  • Does not dive into tackles

A bit worried about the passing issue.

Looks to me like he'd be a perfect fit for our club.

Yeah, I think everyone agrees he put in a shambles of a performance. Players slipping over constantly is one of the most frustrating things, it shouldn't happen more than once a season, nevermind more than once a game.

It just tickles me seeing you repeat the same thing over and over again in all manner of threads :D

I'd doubt he'll get chance now but you never say never. Whatever, any criticism (at least from me) is not about one match as someone suggested. I wasn't impressed last time I saw him either.

Swansea weren't in a strong enough position to loan out a player on top of his game and, while I'd hoped they might be wrong, almost everything I've seen of Dyer since has suggested they had reasons for their decision.

I've no way of comparing him to Gray but am serious in saying I doubt Dyer's good enough for us and that, if Gray can't better my impression of the Swansea man,  then he's in for a hard time.

I don't think that's the case but you never know. Not all our signings have shone.

I hope when he comes back in the summer he can fit into the number 10 role. He is a good player from the sounds of blackburn fans just needs to be more clinical infront of goal

Good attacking player who doesn't score? We've been crying out for a man like him...

Some of our fans are so fickle. Let's now pick on Dyer for having an off half against Bournemouth. He came on second half against Villa changed the game for us and scored the winner. Came on second half against Southampton played a blinder that day, him, Mahrez, Vardy and Albrighton were unplayable that day.

Let's be frank he has yet to play a full game for us so he hasn't really had proper game time to impress. I am hoping Swansea give us permission for him to play the full 90 against Spurs this Sunday perhaps then more sensible posters can really give a true assesment of his abilities. I would say three bit parts as a second half sub are nowhere near long enough to deem him crap? Thracian take note.

I watched the Villa game and was heartened by Dyer. I missed the Southampton match but accept he played well. His other two appearances were woeful. If he was standing out in training I'd expect he'd have had a lot of opportunities in recent weeks with the absence of Schlupp but he hasn't.

So the "three bit parts" hardly tell what I believe to be the full story. Why, when we desperately need a penetrative winger would Dyer become the forgotten man? And why would Swansea allow such a player to go on loan to one of their Premiership rivals?

I'm not anti-Dyer. I relished the prospect of his arrival. But what I've seen has swiftly changed my mind and that's without getting answers to the questions posed above.

It wasn't even just  about what he did on Saturday or in his previous appearance. It was about the way he did it. The first thing he did in the game before Bournemouth was to let a simple pass go under his foot for a throw in and the day didn't get much better.

On Saturday he had lots of the ball and made one worthwhile pass.

I'm not sure which of us most needs to take note! :)

Would still like us to sign dyer. He was swanseas best player last season. I think the new manager at Swansea will keep him though. He just needs to start a few

I don't think we should sign Dyer now, I would like us to sign Carillo instead. Mahrez, Carillo, Gray, Schlupp and Albrighton. One of those would probably have to go either permanently or on loan but I wouldn't want any of them to leave. I suspect it would be Mahrez if we don't get into the top four.
