Dicko Posted 26 February 2016 Share Posted 26 February 2016 Morning folks Not posted for a long time but I figured this would be the best place to ask this. What is the closest match-day parking to the ground these days? I'm going to the game with my Dad tomorrow but haven't driven for years. We usually go to the pub beforehand and then walk down, but he was taken ill at the back end of last year and is only just on the road to recovery. This will be the first game he's attended since October. As keen as he is to go, he can't walk all that far, so i'll drive and need to park fairly close to the ground. The club car park has sold out. What's the next-closest one? And how early would we need to get there? I'm not fussed about cost etc. Any advice appreciated
David Guiza Posted 26 February 2016 Share Posted 26 February 2016 Symphony Rooms/the old Half Time Orange isn't too bad. A little costly and a delay in getting out after the match, but close and safe enough.

Carter The Boss Posted 26 February 2016 Share Posted 26 February 2016 I normally park at the sport centre thing on Saffron Lane. £5 and about a 5-10 minute walk to the ground
JayTheFox Posted 26 February 2016 Share Posted 26 February 2016 There are car parks on the freemans common industrial estate, (LE2 7SQ) most are in aid of charity and usually charge around £4-5 pounds. Not as close as the half time orange car park but possibly more spaces available I'd imagine.
Larry_LCFC Posted 26 February 2016 Share Posted 26 February 2016 Freeman's common. 5ish minute walk. Five quid. Gets full by about 1330.

Bob Hazels shorts Posted 26 February 2016 Share Posted 26 February 2016 Jump in a cab to either take you from home or a suitable parking spot away from the ground and drop you at the door at pub. Have a beer in the old half time orange/ symphony rooms after the game as it's madness on the roads. Return cab. Sure the ol'fellas worth it Edit! Don't drink and drive, cab all day long
Monsell1976 Posted 26 February 2016 Share Posted 26 February 2016 Saffron lane bus lane, it's free and the same distance and freemans reallyThis. When I used to park there, the only issue I had was, if you didn't get there by 1 o'clock, you ended up parking right down saff lane. And if his dad isn't to good at present, I would get there about one, so right up near the ground.
Livid Posted 26 February 2016 Share Posted 26 February 2016 Freemans Common is ok if you get there early and choose a car park which lets you make a relatively quick getaway. It can be hellish to get away and there's little Bon homie or sense of brotherhood towards fellow city fans once everyone has got in their little metal box.
