Leeds Fox Posted 5 April 2016 Posted 5 April 2016 If we win the league, I think in the future, naming one of the stands the '15/16 Stand' would be a great tribute to everyone involved in this season, without picking out one person for praise, but the whole squad, coaching staff and other non playing staff. As well as the fans who experienced the whole season. Maybe next season would be too soon, but maybe a few years down the line.
Guest CityFan 06 Posted 5 April 2016 Posted 5 April 2016 There's so much potential with our stadium which is positive. If we do expand in the near future (additional tier presumably ) it will instantly look like it has more character. I've got to say a double decker Kop would be amazing.
jonthefox Posted 5 April 2016 Posted 5 April 2016 It'd be decent if we could get a stand renamed to something a bit more personal to us as well Claudio Ranieri stand in may .
Guest CityFan 06 Posted 5 April 2016 Posted 5 April 2016 A stand named after the Birch would be good considering all he's done for the club.
m4DD0gg Posted 5 April 2016 Posted 5 April 2016 rename the family the stand the pork and leek sausage stand
C-man Posted 5 April 2016 Posted 5 April 2016 Technically, the stadium cannot be advertised as the King Power Stadium in the Champions League as King Power are not an official 'business partner,' or whatever bullshit corporate term is used, of UEFA. Arsenal, Manchester City and Bayern Munich all have similar issues and see their grounds renamed for UEFA competition - surely we could officially label the stadium Filbert Way purely for the purposes of UEFA competition? I'm not sure what the implications are for the King Power branding within the stadium either - another potential opportunity there. As for Filbert Street - I'd love to see the club take over the derelict parts and build a club museum there. It'd be low rise, so the residents would have little cause to complain, and would be a genuine nod to the heritage of our football club. As well as a museum, I like Littletoe's idea of building an indoor site for the next generation of City players and fans - make it a genuine centre for the past and future. It's an absolute disgrace at the moment and genuinely saddens me to see a place where so much history was made become an eyesore. It won't be Filbert Way. In the same way that the Westfalenstadion is 'The Dortmund Stadium', ours will be 'The Leicester Stadium'.
Guest Bilo Posted 5 April 2016 Posted 5 April 2016 It won't be Filbert Way. In the same way that the Westfalenstadion is 'The Dortmund Stadium', ours will be 'The Leicester Stadium'. One can but hope, even if we know it won't happen.
zealot Posted 23 August 2016 Author Posted 23 August 2016 This needs to be compulsory purchased as soon as possible... Most fitting use would be as a football field for all to play on. Or several football fields. It's just devastating what has happened to what should be a haloed site: http://www.leicestermercury.co.uk/8216-a-far-cry-from-the-leicester-city-stadium-days-8217-filbert-street-site-owner-told-to-clean-up-land/story-29645955-detail/story.html.
Wymsey Posted 23 August 2016 Posted 23 August 2016 There have been moans/rejections from the local council in redeveloping the area around the old ground which was initially suggested by the club. A student property company wanted to have grassland space next to the current student property (based on old ground site) to be used for extra parking space for their tenents but this was also rejected. Hence nothing has happened for years.
urban.spaceman Posted 23 August 2016 Posted 23 August 2016 If the club could buy back the site they should turn it into a museum or fan "experience" kind of thing.
