Dan Posted 8 June 2016 Posted 8 June 2016 I'd look elsewhere before paying some of that money. The scouts have proven many a time they can find the right characters who'll fit in with the squad. I appreciate what they've done but you can't hand out silly wages like that. It'll come tumbling down on us. That's one way to guarantee we end up back in trouble.
Gerard Posted 8 June 2016 Posted 8 June 2016 that's not so different to what I said then. the upshot of 50 instead of 60 and 75 instead of 80 isn't going to make a huge difference to the total annual increase. I guess the point i'm making is that all the players agents are going to be knocking on rudkin's door and the club have to decide how best to keep the dressing room together. having differences per week of 70k in the starting line up is going to be tough to maintain. the club must decide if its going to go down the route of allowing players to leave and replacing via our scouting network or paying more to keep what is already proven at top four level. its a difficult decision. If you look at my figures, I tried not to offer big amounts on long contracts unless I felt the player was a saleable asset. otherwise, you run the risk of no one buying them because they wont pay the same salary. where I wrote 'contract extension', I mean from now. I wasn't sure how long many of them have to run on their existing deals. I have a suspicion that our owners are quite tough when it comes to negotiations. if it were the other way around, would vardys people have felt the need to actually obtain concrete offers to take back to the club. even if they all want to stay, it looks like the media are going to be kept busy over our better players unless the club decide to take the situation in hand and make them 'knockout offers' rather than waiting. Danny Simpson isn't going to be pissed off that some of his team mates are earning a lot more than him because he knows his own worth and he knows their worth just like the poorer Barcelona players wouldn't begrudge Messi his £500k a week or whatever he's on. If Simpson has a problem that someone earns three times as much as him then he can be a lot easier replaced than our star players. Also loads of those players might be squad players and not first team players by the start of the season, we don't want our bench players on 60-70k a week, a recipe for disaster.
st albans fox Posted 8 June 2016 Author Posted 8 June 2016 Mahrez was on 26k before Christmas. He signed a new deal last august. If we got him to agree an increase to only 26k then A) It shows we are indeed a tough negotiater B) it wouldn't surprise me if he does actually have a release clause after all. C) he must have had a crap agent

st albans fox Posted 8 June 2016 Author Posted 8 June 2016 I think our rise may have been too quick for some of our supporters. Trust the board to to the right thing. I'm just pointing out the options. Those that don't think the players should be offered higher packages - please don't be the ones that complain when they are linked to other clubs. Their agents will use whatever tactics they can to get their men better deals
Bluetintedspecs Posted 8 June 2016 Posted 8 June 2016 So you think that most of them will sit happily on their 'lower PL level' contracts whilst we pay a few players three times what they earn and new guys come in on higher wages?? And the agents of these players will ask the club what their ambitions are. If we don't want some of them to stay and be motivated then fine but I don't think a disjointed dressing room will work for us. It's a discussion thread. Not sure why you have an attitude? I expect most of the figures I quoted sit well with a squad like stoke's without the few at the very top. No attitude hence the smiley face, however if you want to get snippy and so serious over something so pointless please let me know what impact your wild assumptions make and more importantly what experience you have and definitive information on our players current situations and contracts? I suspect it's next to **** all and Your figures are pretty wild summation at best. I also suggest yours and anyone's opinion on here regarding contracts will not make a blind bit of difference and it's best left to the professionals to deal with.....Now that's an attitude

Seems quite relevant to speculate what wages might keep our team together compared with the increase in revenue expected due to our surprise title win.

Fair enough everyone's entitled to an opinion, it's Foxes Talk My point is I don't feel it actually changes anything and I wouldn't ask my Dentist round to give his opinion on my boiler. More importantly there's too much wild speculation on something our opinions will not change!
