I have a feeling I'm going to feel so stupid when I hear it haha. Oh. I was going to say Jonny Evans of West Brom but I've just realised he's in the Northern Ireland team. I will have to edit that, instead I will choose Scott Dann of Palace. Good job you mentioned that

Fox92 Posted 28 June 2016 Posted 28 June 2016 Shearer got his assessment spot on. Exactly what we all know: "We are blinded by the Premier League. We think it's the best in the world for talent. It's not. We are totally reliant on foreign players and managers for excitement. We are not as good as we think we are."
Guest Col city fan Posted 28 June 2016 Posted 28 June 2016 Carroll and Albrighton would have been perfect today. Oh, well. Moot point. Spot on. If anything would have 'changed it up' it would have been Albrighton crossing to Carroll. Not knocking Vardy, but remember that late cross that he very nearly got his head to? Went out for a late corner? Carroll would have won that header. It's disgraceful that 5 mill a year Woy had no plan b. Nor a plan a
AKCJ Posted 28 June 2016 Posted 28 June 2016 Shearer got his assessment spot on. Exactly what we all know: "We are blinded by the Premier League. We think it's the best in the world for talent. It's not. We are totally reliant on foreign players and managers for excitement. We are not as good as we think we are." The Premier League is as good as we think it is, but he's right in saying that the best players are not English (no matter how much we like to think so). It's embarrassing that Aguero has never been in the team of the season.
fuchsntf Posted 28 June 2016 Posted 28 June 2016 I thought Rose was overrated but I didn't realise just how shit he is until this tournament. It's like he's never seen a football before. yup, soon as any pressure came, he was far to hasty. But the whole of the defence were out of their given positions, when Iceland scored. The whole backline yesterday was abysmal. We need a new base of backline players and realise the England chosen players have to be coached and offered a system to play to, with varying ideas. End of FA conference with Hodgson...again no direct apologies on last nights offering.
Tielemans63 Posted 28 June 2016 Posted 28 June 2016 Joel Ward, Scott Dann, Craig Dawson, Steve Cook, James Tomkins, Matt Targett, Aaron Cresswell, Marc Albrighton, Andros Townsend, Danny Drinkwater, James Ward-Prowse, Mark Noble, Troy Deeney, Andy Carroll, Callum Wilson. All players who could and probably should have been given a chance. Bit of a joke when the likes of Henderson, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Walcott, Wilshere get picked despite the lack of any continuity in their seasons.
fuchsntf Posted 28 June 2016 Posted 28 June 2016 The first England manager who succeeds in getting the team to play like they do in the PL, choosing and giving 2-3 players responsibility and leadership options, will do well and have a chance of winning a tournament. Hodgson could of grabbed the bull by the horns, but he chose 2-3 players off form or not fit., then made them the axis of the attack. I believe even now if he had been confident with what he had...a front 2 of Vardy and Kane with Rooney Ali, Dier running midfield, then backing and supporting before that selection well before the tournament began. We would be waiting for the french game Lallana, Drinkwater, Barkley, Carrol, Townsend, could of been the game tweekers. Sturridge Wilsher, Henderson and Sterling had late injuries or no form, they couldnt tweek anything It was so easy, but Hodgson couldnt see it.
