Euro 2012

France 1 England 1

Sweden 2 England 3

England 1 Ukraine 0

England 0 Italy 0

Knocked out by a very good Italian side who went on to the final.

2014

England 1 Italy 2

Uruguay 2 England 1

England 0 Costa Rica 0

2 good teams in our group but was very poor in all 3 games! Finished bottom.

2016

England 1 Russia 1

England 2 Wales 1

England 0 Slovakia 0

England 1 Iceland 2

Knocked out round 16

Listening to press conference, praised Woys efforts and work he has done in last 4 years, left a legacy. He inherited a team just before 2012, maybe 2012's planning, tactics, squad etc was all Capellos but it is very clear to see we have got worse!

He has dragged this country's team down to its knees, killed all support and enthusiasm whilst thinking he has made the team something better than what it was.

Euro 2008 didn't qualify.

Euro 2012 - Forgivable but still nothing inspirational. Our best tournament since 2006 but you'd be more inclined to say it was our least pathetic one.

World Cup 2014 - Embarrassing all round. Two defeats to sides not even at their best in the tournament and a draw with a Costa Rica side resting players.

Euro 2016 - Absolutely shocking and given the opposition I'd say somehow it's gone even further than 2014 in terms of embarrassment. Losing to a country of 300k people is the absolute nadir and it will be some time before we hit a low like that again.

Last time we were actually entertaining to watch was when Sven was manager. I went to a few England games back then too.

We had some serious players then, but Sven wasn't a great manager still,.. he got off because of the players, example of poor management is neglecting scholes and taking an unfit beckham. Plus trying to play lampard and Gerrard together...

We were supposed to have serious players this year. There's no excuse. But, for me, it just highlights how the likes of Lampard and Gerrard were so much better.

I'm not a massive Sven fan but, as I said, at least we were good to watch.

What the bloke from the FA said was another example of ostrich like behavior.

They are in complete denial and somebody should be held accountable for employing Hodgson in the first place. Does the concept of accountability not exist anymore?

We have gotten worse. That England performance last night was probably the worst I've seen in a long time. It was a nightmare to watch and an embarrassment to the country.

Heads should roll... And I'm being serious. All the way up to the top.

True.

This isn't a shock elimination - this is something that has been something coming, just didn't really imagine on this scale.

The whole tournament they have been embarrassing, the teams we played we really should of looked the superior side and show quality but last night was a complete train wreck, I can't work out wether last night or games under the Mcclaren.

I think the only way the FA are going to realise the fans are sick of it is by boycotting games. I know it's important to support the team and get behind them but their performances haven't warranted our loyal support and the FA are only interested in our money.

That wasn't about Sven IMO. We had better players at the time.

I've said countless times over the last three weeks, our problem is our midfield. It's rubbish. All this talk of bloody Lallana, Dier etc...they aren't a patch on the likes of Gerrard and Lampard. They aren't in the same ball park. When it really counts at international level, they aren't up to it. Wilshere for instance will go on, I'm sure, to have a good season in the Premiership. He'll 'look a different player'.... I'm sure he will..he'll be playing alongside Ozil and Sanchez.

I maintain, our better English players look so good at times in the Prem because they play with other players of real quality week in, week out.

Henderson, Lallana, Wilshere.....bang average at international level. If our strikers this campaign had been supplied with real quality, they'd have taken more chances. I'm not talking Kane here....it was clear he was absolutely knackered. Why on earth Woy kept playing him was just weird.. But Vardy, running onto passes from a younger Gerrard and Lampard would have had far more chances than being supplied by this dross.

Of all the English central midfielders last season, it's Drinkwater who's shone. Both defensively and offensively, he's been immense. He instinctively knows Vardy's game and he's set him up on numerous occasions to run in on goal. They have that understanding. But Woy didn't even include him in the squad.

Has Hodgson actually watched ANY fookin football last season? I maintain, I could have picked a better squad this term than he did. It would have included Townsend, Andy Carroll. Albrighton and Danny Drinkwater. It wouldn't have included Sterling, Henderson, Barkley or Rooney.

Totally agree Col. Didn't realise how lucky we were having midfielders like Gerrard and Lampard who could pick the ball up and run at players ... and finish. Lallana's finishing for an 'attacking midfielder' is shocking... Wilshere is our best midfielder now, on his day quality, but he wasn't fit enough to go. Both Drinkwater and Noble should have gone... Hodgson got it wrong from the start, the lack of width in picking no wingers was appalling.
