im losing faith in levein

It was like Micky Adams all over again today, playing our best centre back at left back, playing Kisnorbo in at least 3 different positions, where the hell is anyone meant to know where they're playing? Surely the idea is to get a settled 11 that knows each other so we can build an understanding on the pitch thus equalling a tighter unit that will work for each other and provide for each other but no! Levein has to go and mess about with it, he takes the player who looked most likely to score off, fair enough, Hammond did score, but still, Hume did more to stake a claim to stay on the pitch than De Vries who offered nothing. Leveins got to sit down and pick an 11 thats going to last 3-5 games on the trot with no changes unless forced otherwise we're going nowhere or worse still, down.

That looks very much like someone talking sense!

Leicester fans are near enough all glory supporters, cheer and turn up in number when we're doing well, stay quiet and do nothing if we dont. I don't see how i'd be any different if I turned my back on all this.

Too fuc king right - well said.

Also, I notice that a couple of weeks ago I gave Levein a little bit of stick, questioned his tactics a little and got flamed by a load of brown-nosers. I don't necessarily want him out but like I said, the man needs someone to give him a boot up the ar se and a few words to the wise in his ear.

they guy is awesome, first he inherited a poor side and then when he went to bring in his own players he was told he had to cut the wage bill by 5 million pounds. so the bloke has had hurdle after hurdle so far. the football we are playin isn't pretty but neither was o'neil teams. but we liked him because we were winning most weeks and doin well in cup competitions and to be fair to levein his cup record is pretty good, quarter final of the fa cup last season and still in the league but then again we shud be after only playing bury and blackpool but has we have seen many lower league sides have beaten the bigger clubs. i'm a fan of levein he ses it how it is such has macarthy hasn't been playing well, maybury made a mistake today and will suffer the consiquenses. he also sed he wud impliment a young side and thats been the case. also fans have a go at levein because he changes the squad week in week out. u might find thats down to injury or players not performing and the guy isn't scared to drop players if they aint doin wot they are sposed too. o'neil recommended the guy and so far he has done a tidy job for sayin he had the poor adams side to pick from and then we he gets his chance to stamp his mark on things he has to cut the wage bill by 5 million. most of his signings hav been spot on too. reason lesta are poor at home his because they run onto a pitch with no atmosphere. the fans do f all to get the players goin aprt from sittin there and just watchin. its perfectic.

Maybury suffered because of absolute shite delivery of an easy ball from McCarthy that put him under intense pressure. Get McCarthy to sort that out and his continual fouling and manhandling of opposition players and we go a long way to sorting out serious defense problems and free kicks in dangerous positions.

Can't see what anyone sees in McCarthy. He may be a scrapper like all the Irish I've ever met but he'll never be an outstanding centre-half cos he's just a little bit short in too many departments.

That's the impression I got too (the sloppy pass).

However, to be fair, I thought Paddy had a good (if tough) game and he didn't do badly in the manhandling department/giving away stuff in this game (except that pass). Also, no one can fault him for "not caring" about the team/their performance and the result. You can see that miles away.

Yet, it is apparent from his interviews that he sees himself as a stopper and defending as the business of stopping an attack (sometimes at all costs) and doesn't yet consider pro-active action as essential to his game (and teamwork). In sports psychology, we'd call this a limiting belief. If he changed this belief, he could be a much better player! :)

To be honest he has done some very good things for the club i.e. getting rid of all the shit, signing some good younger players, bringing down the wage bill etc.

But unfortunately as a manager on the pitch I do not rate him at all, he plays stupid formations, leaves our best players on the bench, doesnt have much passion and always seems scared to change things around and try and win a game.

He constantly sticks with De Vries and doesnt give Hume a chance, we signed him for 500k and hes played fock all minutes really. Levein is playing people out of position and has no idea on his best team. We need to get a team get a formation and STICK WITH IT. In my opinion it should be

Rab

Stearman Gerrbrand Nisse Sheehan/Maybury

Sylla Joey Williams Hughes

Hume Hammond

Ok Hughes is not an out and out winger but he can play there and has played well there, or play hamill/tiatto on the left and hughes in for williams. We need to be more attacking and get rid of De Vries and Kisnorbo, Im not sure if he is trying to justify his signings from Hearts or he just bums them, whatever it is he needs to sort it and sort it fast.

I do not wish to see him go because i feel he needs time but that is something we have not got.

How can you say you are losing faith in CL. as siad he has had to cut the wage bill, that aint anyones fault its life.

Then we have the fact that he has to rebuild a squad from nothing, That aint his fault MA left the club with few decent players.

Then we have the fact that the players have not had time to jel

Then who are you going to get to replace him, there is no one that will do better under the circumstances even MON would struggle. So EFFING WELL GROW UP AND START SUPPORTING THE CLUB OR F OF ELSE WHERE.

I think today's performance to an extent has to be put into perspective.

Whilst I agree with the argument about playing people out of position, If maybury hadn't got himself dismissed, we don't know how it would have panned out.

We can all make an educated guess but I'm clinging on to the fact that it just might have been different.

You may be right but there weren't too many good signs. Too many passengers, too many players out of position, not enough creativity in the side and not enough marksmen.

Why be rude? I have said he has done good things for the club, but as a manager he makes some shocking decisions and I wonder if he knows what he is doing. On the pitch is where it matters and Mr Levein hasnt showed me anything to get excited about

I think he'd make a decent boxer.

It might be interesting to actually rate his signings in terms of achievement so far and then, perhaps, on perceived potential.

Gerrbrand (barely played a game) ........................(1)..........(7)

Douglas...............................................................(6.75).....(6)

Maybury ..............................................................(6.75).....(6.75)

Kisnorbo...............................................................(4.5).......(6.5)

McCarthy..............................................................(5.5).......(6)

Nils.......................................................................(6)..........(6.5)

Hughes .................................................................(6)..........(8)

Sylla .....................................................................(4)..........(4)

MDV.......................................................................(7)..........(7)

Hume.....................................................................(6.5)........(8)

Hammond ..............................................................(7)...........(8)

Hammill..................................................................(5)...........(6)

Gilbert ....................................................................(4)..........(5)

Henderson................................................................(4.5).......(5)

Apologies if I've missed anyone out or inadvertently included anyone who wasn't actually signed by Craig Levein.

It might also be worth comparing the above with our home grown youngsters in the same way.

Stearman................................................................(7)...........(8.5)

Sheehan..................................................................(6.75)......(8.0)

Chambers (games I've seen).....................................(7.5)........(9)

Wesolowski (based on general opinion).......................(8)...........(9)

Porter ......................................................................(6)...........(7)

It is clear that both on actual perforemances and on potential our Academy players are streaks ahead of even the best Levein signings.

Indeed I would say that only Douglas, Maybury (now fading), MDV (leading scorer, honest trier, creates a bit, lots of appearances), Hammond (always a trier, the only guy who might be said to have been a bit unlucky and a man of genuine skill, pace and potential), Hume (breath of fresh air) and Hughes (all-round good player) have been value or better and you might be generous and include Gerrbrand as an unknown quantity. That's seven out of 14.

Others may prove okay but no more than that and at least two should never be playing at this level.

Of the seven successes, only Hammond, Hume and Hughes of the Levein signings have real potential yet four or five Academy "graduates" would fit that bill.

what he's done off field has been excerlant, it will be worth fuk all if we carry on like this as we will end up getting relegated.

as for the players not having time to gel, the core of the team has been here for alomst a year if not more

Thracian,

where do these achieved and perceived potential scores come from?

Thracian,

where do these achieved and perceived potential scores come from?

These are mainly my personal assessments of players individual performances and their effect within the team.

Sylla, for instance, I've marked low because he has not scored, has made very few goals, has not been a great individual threat and has faded badly after 25 minutes or so.

I have also tried to factor in a view of each player in comparison to others.

Gerrbrand is an anomaly because there's no form to go on so I've used third party opinion from his previous club etc to form a potential mark and I've explained the criteria with Chambers.

Achievement is possibly the wrong heading to have used in that, apart from avoiding relegation, a decent FA Cup and remaining in the League Cup we have actually achieved nothing of note on the pitch - hence the indivudal/team effect criteria.

From the list you will see I mark Sylla and Gilbert down as our worst players. MDV may not be everyone's favourite but he is leading scorer by a distance, has played a lot of games and has been involved in much of our better work.

You will doubtless have your own viewpoint which I will be pleased to read.

On my assessments we have seven out of 14 "successful/worthwhile" signings, up to five who may turn out alright and two bad ones.

To my mind - although only three of those signings have real potential the number of good/okay signing suggest we should be doing much better than at present in the Championship given the right guidance and tactics...especially with the Academy lads thrown in as a bonus.

However that three out of 14 Levein signings have any real potential does not suggest Levein has a remarkable eye for spotting talent by any stretch of the imagination.

If i am honest, i feel CL has quite alot of flops.

Hammond

De Vries

Gilbert

Johansson - good championship player, but not what we aexpected and is not playing to full potential.

Sylla

Kisnorbo - will give him time, but not impressed so far

Hamill - from what i have heard, plays badly more than he plays well.

Probably from Chandler

Excuse my ignorance )I've only been posting since June) but who the hell is this Chandler guy everyone keeps going on about in isolated threads?

fans are concerned about their club thats all , some fans want cl to stay and see if he can turn it round and other fans want to see a change . even the fans who want levein out CARE about this club . SO EFFING WELL GROW UP AND LOOK AT BOTH SIDES OF THE COIN
