Does anyone have any knowledge or links for summer internships for business/finance or economics?

I have been looking for summer internships abroad however all of them seem to have a program fee of about £5000 which I am not willing to pay for an internship

Thanks in advance

Currently doing the whole PTY stuff, never seen a placement yet that has a program fee, UK or abroad. Especially in the business/economics field, unpaid is common in Psych etc.

Obviously its different for each uni but the careers portal (assuming you've got one) should have them all listed. Otherwise Linkedin, Milkround, ratemyplacement etc. or companies websites.

I thought they were making unpaid internships illegal?

Yeah, they are 'thinking' about it with a debate scheduled for Friday. If anything happens those firms who are currently offering unpaid internships will obviously only offer minimum wage though

Try  Www. eurasmus.com....some locations actually pay you.

Plenty of paid summer internships on there.

If you can, I'd wholly recommend doing a full year-long 'placement' though. You get so much more out of them as the company knows you'll stick around for a while so they'll invest in you more and give you more responsibilities. Summer placements are still good, but I found the really good stuff in my placement (Virgin Media) didn't kick off til about 2-3 months in.

Any experience you can get before you graduate is invaluable, though. Whatever you go for, just make sure to involve yourself as best as you can and make an impression - they may well offer you a permanent role in advance for when you graduate. Happened to me in fact, although I turned it down to go with a different opportunity :D
