Rob1742 Posted 14 January 2017 Posted 14 January 2017 Who you bumped into in employment after they have retired? Colin Hill - tried to flog me a box down at the old Filbert Street when I worked at a Leicester company. He worked in the commercial department for a short time. Jimmy Walsh - bought a paper off him at his newsagents down Churchgate. Lenny Glover - served me a few pints in his pub in Smeeton Westerby. Colin Gibson - discussed tax matters with him on one occasion. What ex players have you bumped into who had a new job after football?

Not Leicester, but met Julian Dicks running a pub near Colchester.

fazzyfox Posted 14 January 2017 Posted 14 January 2017 I used to go to a hairdressers on Narborough road not far from the Upperton Road junction around the early 90's, There was a father, son and daughter working there / running it, the dad was a former City player but I can't recall who he was (anecdote of the year award), anyone else know who this was?
pSinatra Posted 14 January 2017 Posted 14 January 2017 Walk into most Royal Mail delivery offices & you'll probably find an ex city player. David Nish, Nick Platnauer, Dave Gibson are a few I can think of. Mike Stringfellow ran our local newsagents. Worked with Ally Mauchlen at British Gas on Aylestone Road

Glad to report he is on the mend now though.

He would come & go as a postman, in between him getting football jobs. Said he was decent bloke, so good to hear he's doing ok
