I missed about one or two games the whole season. I agree about the DM cover, it's a known problem. However it doesn't prevent the fact that Morgan have been implied in almost every goal we conceded. Huth was only slightly worse. He and Huth are ageing badly, slow, dreadful with the ball and paralyzed by the new "no grappling" rules. Fuchs is having a bad spell the 3-4 last games but is still one of the most consistent Players of the lot. Same goes for Simpson granted he's also far from what I'd call a great form. The FB have been instructed to cover the CBs since there was no real DM that could make up for it. That's why there is rarely any overlapping,

Still having Morgan aligned is ridiculous, not having signed any decent CB is madness and having Wasil as only back up is a crime.

Spot on.

I said two or three weeks ago on here that our scouting "network" now primarily consisted of African players and journeymen scattered across the continent's minor leagues and that we had no scouts checking the talent here. I was told I had no proof. Our last few signings have been Musa (Nigerian from Russia), Slimani (Algerian from Portugal), Mendy (French), Ndidi (Nigerian from Portugal) and now Wague, a Malian defender. We've also been linked with the guy at Anderlecht who plays for Ghana. Moves for 2 British based players Keane and Brady collapsed and died.

For the Champions of England to not be even considering young English talent is amazing and very poor IMO. We used to get the guys with a point to prove who never quite made it at the big guns or who couldn't get a break. Now we seem to be convinced that paying millions for unproven talent from lower-rate leagues is the way to go. I hope someone up at the top has a plan because these signings aren't convincing me we know where we're going or where we want to be. Recruitment took us to the top, let's hope it doesn't take us back down again.

Demarai Gray.

Difficult to sign young, talented English players unfortunately, as they are so damn expensive and mopped up by the bigger clubs and left to rot in their youth and reserve teams

I completely agree to this end. I think the statement Ranieri gave about Benalouane being ready to play is an excuse for this. I don't really know why no moves were made either, it seems that Ranieri is either being hard headed or he just doesn't see the reality of where we are headed (or both). I personally still think there is time to salvage the season, but there has to be a change on the defensive end.

I agree to a certain degree. I think the high we got from how Mahrez and Kante turned out made us believe that we were some sort of wizards at finding young African players and developing them into stars. Amartey, Mendy, Musa, Ndidi, and now Wague are an extension to an avid signing campaign of African journeymen.

The way we are buying all these African players come next January's ACON we will be asking for a winter break as we will have no team to put out.

News is that we rejected a bid from Sunderland for Leo. Can anyone confirm this? Something about 7.5 mil.

Apparently so.

Kante, Mendy and Wague are no African journeymen.

They are French (Wague has 2 nationalities: France and Mali).

Born, raised and educated in France.

Their parents hail from Africa.

True but by that token so is Mahrez. Didn't see him in the last Euro did I?

Edit: You're right about Kante but had he not broken out during his tenure at Leicester he'd probably be a Mali international. Call me when Mendy and Wague get called up to the French NT. And no, U-teams don't count.

Says who?

Says all of the African teams those players end up playing for. I think 90% of Algeria's NT as well as a big chunk of Tunisia's and Morocco's are all former U-internationals for France or Belgium.

Two years till the next afcon. But it is a worry. Unless we know Mahrrz and slim have a get out.

If the window shuts, and we don't add decent quality players, we are as good as down, as I cannot see these players having it in them for a relegation battle, they look lost and we are not in the bottom 3
