ktfox59 Posted 28 January 2017 Posted 28 January 2017 Please forgive if I'm sounding a little thick, or indeed this has been discussed already, but isn't this a strange day to be having matches? Deadline day? So stupid imho! You have deals in and out and either can't play them through fear of injury or have been sold prior to the match. Where are the managers to welcome incomings? Maybe not so important at some clubs, but the confusion of interest is strange to me. For example, we're selling slim for 40m? Does Top want to jeapordise that deal with a season long injury against Burnley? Other side, we leave him out, the buyers change their mind, we get beat and there's 3points down the drain. Any explanations?
AKCJ Posted 28 January 2017 Posted 28 January 2017 Deadline day is a farce. There are 30 other days in Januaray in which to do your business. No excuses.

Tell that to whoever sorts the deals out here, the recruitment team, scouts, whoever. Nothings going to happen today, It's highly unlikely anything will happen on a Sunday so that leaves us with Monday and the mad panic of Tuesday. As you say 30 (Well 31 ) days in January, nothing has happened and we're left with 2 days when we need quite a few players in. It's not as if our problems have crept up on us and mounted recently, the problems have been clear to see all season and it looks like we're doing nothing to fix the problems. I'm blaming the players, alot, the effort, desire is nil but the management team have done nothing and seem to be doing nothing to help themselves. They're really not helping themselves. Heads must roll i'm afraid.
Matt Posted 28 January 2017 Posted 28 January 2017 Apparently Rudkin is working 'very hard' to get a defender in. You've only had 28 days pal, infact no, scrap that, since the bloody summer!

Sigurdsson from Swansea to play just behind Vards please!!! We need someone exceptional on the ball and we need to keep the bloody ball on the deck!
Matt Posted 29 January 2017 Posted 29 January 2017 I could actually imagine that happening. McDonalds could sign him up for their adverts, you know the ones, the tight **** "like getting your money's worth" ones.
sylofox Posted 29 January 2017 Posted 29 January 2017 So its the premier leagues fault we play home games on a Tuesday. The premier league have fecked up our whole transfer window again.
HighPeakFox Posted 29 January 2017 Posted 29 January 2017 My opinion is that we messed up the summer transfer window. Thought I'd put that out there.
crazyleicester Posted 29 January 2017 Posted 29 January 2017 Not every transfer is going to work perfectly, ask West Ham and Payet. They help him become a world beater and he starts for France and a year later they are forced to sell him back to where they got him for a cut price fee because he has downed tools. Im not saying that our deals have gone great but Slimani has allegedly been subject to a 38m deal and roughly 9m profit if we accepted although he has done quite well since he joined us. Hernandez wasnt up to things but we got him on a free and sold him for about 2m. I realise this isnt clear profit as we have agent fees etc to pay but it wasnt a loss. Mendy got injured, Kapustka was bought with the future in mind. Musa hasnt had the chance to have a proper run in the side and has been played all over the shop and Zieler is a step up on Schwartzer. Not a world beater of course but a better understudy that we had. As mentioned, Im not jumping up and down with how the deals have worked out but its still relatively early days, especially for Kapustka, Mendy (who has been injured most of the time) and Musa, who I still reckon has a lot to give us in the future.
China Black Posted 29 January 2017 Posted 29 January 2017 Very disappointed that we've signed no one else and are leaving things to the last day.
USFox Posted 29 January 2017 Posted 29 January 2017 I would've liked for us to have at least strengthened our defense by bringing in a new LB and RB. I still think Morgan and Huth are solid CB's and if we play Amartey right in front of them as a CB/DM hybrid it could provide cover for them and help them out. Our main problems on defense this season has been honestly because of lack of a DM cover and also a huge drop in form from Fuchs and at times Simpson. In any case, still a few days left. We'll see what happens.
soulieoldie Posted 29 January 2017 Posted 29 January 2017 IMO it's the selling clubs holding on to players as long as they can in the hope that it drives the players value up and the buying clubs start to panic as the deadline approaches. Always a lot of deals done at the eleventh hour. Only time will tell if any more players leave and we manage to bring any in, so not long to wait now.

We have one of the worst CB pair in the league, constantling hoofing it and unable to defend nor to pass further than 5 yeard to save their life. Ndidi is above Amartey by a country mile and he's adapting fast. Amartey can be tried as CB because there is just no way he'll find a place as starting midfielder. The FB are the smallest of our problems.

Dan Posted 30 January 2017 Posted 30 January 2017 West Ham and us have some parallels I think. Payet's been a shite about it but they haven't come close to matching their supposed ambition and I've no doubt that'll have played a part. Their summer was probably even more shambolic than ours.
tom27111 Posted 30 January 2017 Posted 30 January 2017 Basically, just another load of shit invented by Sky.
bpfox Posted 30 January 2017 Posted 30 January 2017 heres a thought from left field if we could sign ramirez, this is a side we could put onto the park, kasper nididi wes amaraty mendy mahrez Ramirez drinkwater gray slimani vardy with the two young blokes at the back we have pace and a old head to talk to them, as well as having wide players to attack, mendy can play the deep defensive player. what does every one think.

The FB are the smallest of our problems. I am indeed for real. CB's need defensive cover. Amartey didn't cut it in terms of playing as a DM. To say that we have a bad CB pair and then to evoke that we should play a player out of position to fill that role isn't necessarily the best idea. The FB's are the smallest of our problems? Seems you're the one who hasn't been watching the games my friend. If any player has fallen in form the most, it would definitely be Christian Fuchs. In any case, I've been saying this before and I'll continue to say it, Morgan and Huth need cover in front of them in the form of a CB/DM hybrid. Many teams have a player like this who is a holding midfielder that plays mainly in front of the back line and provides additional cover. The problem with our full backs is that they make Huth and Morgan have to cover their defensive errors, and a lot of times that leads to large open gaps that teams expose in place of where the CB's should be right in front of goal.
lgfualol Posted 30 January 2017 Posted 30 January 2017 Rudkin and the transfer window is like me when I had to revise and finish coursework. Start off determined, get in a quick signing Ndidi. Lose interest, give myself a few days off - or a week. Realise deadline day is coming and start to think "better get working". But end up doing something else because why not. 2 days before deadline day and shit hits ths fan.

I missed about one or two games the whole season. I agree about the DM cover, it's a known problem. However it doesn't prevent the fact that Morgan have been implied in almost every goal we conceded. Huth was only slightly worse. He and Huth are ageing badly, slow, dreadful with the ball and paralyzed by the new "no grappling" rules. Fuchs is having a bad spell the 3-4 last games but is still one of the most consistent Players of the lot. Same goes for Simpson granted he's also far from what I'd call a great form. The FB have been instructed to cover the CBs since there was no real DM that could make up for it. That's why there is rarely any overlapping, Still having Morgan aligned is ridiculous, not having signed any decent CB is madness and having Wasil as only back up is a crime.
foxfanazer Posted 30 January 2017 Posted 30 January 2017 I honestly think our Premier league status depends on today and tomorrow. That's a scary thought!
foxy boxing Posted 30 January 2017 Posted 30 January 2017 Deadline day - when all the clubs panic and try to get players in that they have had months to get in. the Premier league is now so awash with money and everyone is desperate to stay in . paying millions on deadline day to stay in and gain multi millions!
adejo92 Posted 30 January 2017 Posted 30 January 2017 Every other team is strengthening but us.. yay.
