Sell: Wasilewski, Benalouane, Huth, Mendy, Musa, Ulloa, Okazaki. Benalouane is on 50k a week and we have tried to sell him, why would he leave. Wasilewski, is at the end of his contract Barnes is at MK Dons on loan and loving it Kapustka should go out on loan when he is allowed. Amarty and Gray are needed! Huth will not command a fee and why would he leave? Ullua- we'll never be offered 8m again and he offers something others don't. The players bought will only command a fraction of what we bought them for

Wes stays as a backup player we'll wheel him out for old times sake in the tinpot cup competitions. How do you get rid? All but Was they will be contracted to the club. They will not generate the fee we require or themselves anything like the wages we are paying.
foxy boxing Posted 7 February 2017 Posted 7 February 2017 the defence needs a complete overhaul with younger more mobile defenders brought in, ditch Wasilewski and get rid of Ulloa and shinji for more potent goal threats. we also need a steadier number two goalkeeper. we also need another creative midfielder and loan out some of the young players before deciding if they have a future here or not
STUHILL Posted 7 February 2017 Posted 7 February 2017 Leicester's players are facing a 40 per cent cut in their wages if they are relegated. In the Telegraph today. Not sure if true, but you would have thought we would have a clause like that in the contracts.. I hope anyway! For one, it will help us financially if most do stay, but it may also mean that it is easier to shift some of the big earners, as they won't want to stay on lower wages. If we do go down, then the likes of Amartey, N'didi, Gray, Chilwell, Kaputska etc should all give us some hope, that we have a strong platform to start a serious rebuild. Obviously we need a new back 4, and it will be harder to attract top quality CB's, but again, with Amartey and a signing or two, we have a good chance to build and exciting, young team. ...I'd prefer to stay up mind..
mozartfox Posted 7 February 2017 Posted 7 February 2017 Oh Dear. Can we start a Samaritans thread please? Just calm down and see what unfolds. One League win and we could just turn this around. Dismantle the back 4 an absolute must though. Everyone can see that (well hopefully??)

Morgan is 33 and a woeful defender and got a contract extension. Just shows the state of our player policy and recruitment.
Innovindil Posted 7 February 2017 Posted 7 February 2017 Shane long a goal machine. Dear o sodding dear.

The back four need replacing for starters, midfield is probably OK in the main but Mahrez and Vardy need to go and reluctantly Ulloa and Shinji too. The squad needs MASSIVE investment, especially if we stay in the prem. So the two players that pretty much won us the league need to go? Ever thought it isn't their fault they are under performing. What is Vardy meant to do when balls are just hoofed up to him. Teams are just doubling, even tripling up on Mahrez because they know are full backs won't bomb on and offer support. If you think getting rid of them and bringing in new players is going to trasnform this team, your'e deluded. We aren't playing to our players strengths, that's the issue.
crazyleicester Posted 7 February 2017 Posted 7 February 2017 Unfortunately players who lack game time will at some stage tell the club how unhappy they are. Some moody twats through a hissy fit when subbed in a game never mind dropped. That means clubs these days will season on season make changes regardless on how successful they have been and we are no different. In the summer it was Inler, Konchesky, Hammond, Kramaric, De Laet and Moore who had contributed at one stage but were surplus, this January it was Schlupp and Hernandez and in the summer it will be a few more. I really dont think we need a mass clear out as we have been doing good business as we go along. I think Weso wont have another renewal for starters so he will be out. Mahrez I believe will go because it seemed he wanted out last season and was convinced to stay with us for our season in Europe and to help our continuity. Leo wants out of course so he will be punted out while maybe Fuchs could get his American dream as from memory his missus still lives over there. I see Chilwell making that LB possie his own from next season. Molla Wague may be here to stay so that means one of our centre backs giving way but I see us adding a second one. I dont necessarily seeing Wes and Hith sold but I can see them beeing bit part players. I think it will be the continued shifting of dead wood and a few additions. Im loving the fact that we have some top young players at the club so I hope we dont buy 5 or 6 newbies again unless they can improving us significantly or replace outgoing first teamers.

They will not generate the fee we require or themselves anything like the wages we are paying. Schlupp is on 56k a week at Palace. I think we could shift a number of those, with Prem Clubs all starting to pay higher wages now. The 100k p/weekers are the difficult ones, but Mahrez will get that elsewhere, and even Kasper might if a Prem Club need a new no.1, as well as Drinkwater I think. I don't think Ulloa or Okazaki got new deals in the summer, so will still be on what they got when first joined us (25-30k maybe?) Vardy is an issue as don't think anyone would pay 100k a week for him now, unless he has a serious upturn in form. Also, players like Huth, Morgan, Simpson and Fuchs will be hard to shift. All have contracts until 2019 apart from Huth's 2018. Concerning for sure as can't see any being wanted by other teams. My predictions: Able/Need to sell: Slimani (£35m) Kasper (20m), Mahrez (35m), Drinkwater (20m), Ulloa (5m), Okazaki (5m) = £120m Stuck with: Vardy, Albrighton, Wes, Huth, Simpson, Fuchs, Musa. Want to keep and will stay: Chilwell, Gray, Amartey, N'didi, King, Kaputska, Barnes, Lawrence, Mendy, James, Zieler So, I have to agree, as even after shifting a number of players, we are still left with about 7-8 players on either high or very high wages until 2019. It not only will cost us a lot financially, but could also stagnate our rebuild, as the defence especially is full of aged 30+, underperforming and overpaid players. The money from sales should help a lot, but being stuck with this back 4, is not ideal at all, and I hope any new manager would see them as back-ups, rather than a starters every week. Can't stress enough how important it is, (if we do go down), to have a rebuild. Luckily, one good thing the management has done, is started this process already with lots of young exciting players that are all tied down to longterm contracts and would be a great base to start from and add to. If we go down, I think financially we will be fine for a couple of seasons, just because of the ability to sell some of our assets. We also have some great young talent, that would get to start every week in the Championship and hopefully improve a lot and be better from the experience of playing in such a tough league. Unfortunately, we will be stuck with the same back 4, for another 1-2 years, and I predict that they would start every week for us too under most managers. I would much rather we could rebuild our defence and plan for the future with bedding in 23/24 year old CB's, much like Burnley did with Keane and Boro with Gibson. Hopefully, we get a manager brave enough to do that, and able to look past the highly paid, league winning CB's, who we can all see are rapidly declining. It's not all doom and gloom if we get relegated and importantly, due to our owners personal wealth and also the £120 million or so we could raise from player sales, as well as much more generous parachute payments, we would certainly not go under. Long-term it certainly hits us financially, as we could be accumilating much more wealth in the Premier League, and so hopefully it is a season or two max of being stuck in the Championship. Anymore than that, and we may start to see a much bigger impact on our long-term goals and growth. Let's just stay up though shall we..
