Davies yesterday, Lookman generally - I agree though. Ndidi and Gray just as good. My post was primarily in comparison with Chilwell and he who I cant name

He's got great movement in the box and more often than not finds himself on the end of crosses or passes, he might have missed a few sitters... but he's in the right place and you can't argue with his goals to minutes ratio. That's something Okazaki is terrible at, he doesn't even get in the position of being able to miss a chance half the time. The problem is, we're asking him to do a lot off the ball and work with his back to goal, where quite frankly it does highlight some of the weaker sides of his game. His control can be wayward, and his passing, 1-he doesn't track back as much as Okazaki, 2-which exposes the CM's more. Despite your protestation about his aerial duels, when it comes to a flick on he does seem to miss the ball or back out of the challenge an exceptional amount. 3-So much so, I'm starting to think it's actually his own tactic of letting the ball go past his marker, as half the time it baffles them what he does and it floats past them as well!!! If he were playing as the focal point up top, I doubt there would be half the moans about him as I think we'd see more of what he's good at and less of what he's not... problem is, with Vardy there and our way of playing I'm not sure he'll ever get to fill that space. 1-I think he did an immense job first half, he was running and closing down players every time, tracked back and even made couple of tackles in our own half, I know he has the work rate, but I will wait few more games with this team with the same work-rate output to have an objective final verdict. 2- I truly think that the "gap" in the midfield was made because drinky makes our mid too flat, most of the time he is in the same line as n'didi allowing too much space, and that's why we struggle when okazaki is out, he filled the gap that drinky left, which in return is forcing us to play with 10.5 players (I know it sounds corny), drinky needs to step up and become our box to box. 3- finally some one pointed that out, I think that too, when he thinks he can win he jumps for it and he mostly comes out as the winner, but if he thinks he can't, he tries to hold the CB down disrupting his tempo, which leads to the CB missing the ball or returning it to our CMs, and slimani immediately takes off to run into space while the CB is still recovering, or I could be reading too much into it, who knows?
KingKoala Posted 10 April 2017 Posted 10 April 2017 This game just proved how important our midfield support and pressing from up front for our defensive performance. I think having Wes instead of Benny wouldn't have changed the performance that much..
waylander Posted 10 April 2017 Posted 10 April 2017 Did musa have a good spell I thought so. Now ducking as the replys come in. ?

Unless Chilwell really improves, I'm still yet to really see what all the fuss is about with him? (Oh dear, Col slating another youngster,,even though I've praised Ndidi right from first seeing him) Oh well... Chilwell appears better going forward to be fair. Defensively, he seems weak. The Everton youngsters looked much better than ours. Davies and Lookman are good players..already. Lukaku just happens to be a Wclass striker a few seasons behind him. Remember before he moved to Everton potential but too young and not the finished product. Chilwell just starting out and like those Everton youngsters, they will all have good and bad days. One game..6 month assesments far too early. I wish everybody on here would give our young players some slack. Amartey, Chilwell, Gray, Ndidi (hit ground running), far too early to judge and asses future worth to Leicester. Not to forget Kaputska, not yet a real sniff. Analyse individual games and give accounts on that single performance, even groups of games ...by all means. It gives one fairer perspectives without believing all negatives must be pushed and disected. I thought your post comparing Slimani and Ulloa was spot on, but this is how fans opinions twist and turn. Many of us never disagree entirely on each others thoughts and ideas, very few agree on everything....

Benny and Huth made some good stops and interventions, they both blew it on the 2 set pieces. I have to ask what the hell are our coaching staff doing, also when we have attacking set pieces. Albrightons apart whos class of cross comes from natural play, often discredited when the ball is put in the box, all top coaches will tell you...its then the center strikers or attacking midfielders Job to get on to the end of the cross, On any attacking move 3 players at least must be moving towards the box. I believe it was Beckenbauer who said dont blame the messenger (crosser) hes done his job...... Unless he over hits it, or cant get it by or over the 1st defender..."Then shoot him" !!

Of course we should be ok, might even have enough points now, although i personally think we need another 3 points to be comfortable, but our next 3 league games are away at Palace, where we will probably rest players again, away at Arsenal, where we never get anything, and away at West Brom, where if we defend set pieces on that day, like we did today, then we will get a tonking. Lose those games, and we lose the positive momentum that we have picked up of late, and if other results go against us, we could well be back in the relegation mix. If we were going to rest any of our midfielders today, then to give us the best chance to win the game, Ndidi was not the one that should have been rested. Drinkwater has been struggling of late anyway, whether that is down to the hip injury he has supposedly been carrying i don`t know, but a midfield of King and Drinkwater was always going to get over run, and never going to be good enough. That said, we got done in the main today, due to rank crap defending from set pieces. If you really think there's any chance of going down you can get odds of 150 to 1.
