It affects certain people that realise that their club don't want them there. If the club could swap out a group of 3 or 4 mid 20s blokes for a family, they'd do it in a heartbeat. There's no problem being aggrieved about that.

I don’t understand how you can come to this solution. The owners are just trying to acknowledge the fans whatever age group they are, the hats and masks are just a bit of fun for everyone and if you don’t want to partake then leave it on your seat or chuck it the first time the ref makes a bad decision. You’re interpreting it as a negative because you think the club have an agenda against groups of mid 20’s men. Why would they? What about when they give free lager ffs?

I can't stand the image the club is trying to promote. The clappers, the change of colours, the #Fearless #BeFearless #ForeverFearless nonsense, the jester hats, the Vardy masks etc. I think deep down a lot of people feel the same way but are more laid back about it because the football is decent. I can understand it, but does there have to be the trade-off?

Cheer up mate it’s just a bit of fun. I love the free crisps, t shirts, masks, hats, badges, clappers, magazines, cakes, lagers. It’s a great touch by the club. They don’t have to do it and if you don’t want the free stuff then don’t take it.

What's not embarrassing about 30,000 Jamie Vardy masks being spread out across the stadium. In fact it's downright creepy, especially seeing blokes in the mid-forties watching game through one.

I don’t get why you’d be embarrassed? Why is it the mid 40’s group that particularly creep you out in masks? It’s a strange and very specific phobia.

Guess we'll just have to disagree about it.

Judging by your comments I like to think we've got a fairly similar view in regards to wanting to create atmosphere, fans being priced out etc. But to be offended by the hat thing is a bit much is it not? I personally haven't used a clapper at a home game in my life and didn't touch the hat yesterday. I have however had a free pint/ pie courtesy of the club.

Point is, they cannot please everyone! If you don't like it, just don't join in with it!

If the club catered purely for young lads then I'm sure the uproar from families etc would be a lot worse than this. I don't see what the difference is personally.

And you say "you can't please everyone", but they're not even trying to please people who want a matchday experience like I do, that's my problem I guess.

My sixty one year old Dad finds it odd that blokes of his age wear jester hats and Santa hats during a game of football. Maybe he’s an exception too. I find it a bit alienating - rather than spend £x on hats etc, I’d rather they pay for a couple of quid off your ticket.

It’s easy for them to keep clearing out old stock though - this I know for a fact with the free beer at the end of the season.

Why not spend the dollar on stadium expansion, cheaper tickets, affordable food? Maybe having a membership system what doesn’t require a small fortune to join.

The club caters for fans of all ages. What matchday experience do you actually want?

Those hats cost pennies to make. They do them for 1 home match and 1 away match. That wouldn’t equate to a couple of quid of your ticket, maybe a couple of pennies. Also, you assume that this is paid for by the club and not the owners?

You seriously think the spend on stadium expansion etc would be easier enabled by not giving out these freebies? Come on.

That's a matter of opinion

Tell us what you want them to do then? I see that they provide the opportunity to watch a premier league match. I don’t see any discrimination with regards to age or sex in offering this experience so what’s the problem? Enlighten us please.

I’m not even Welsh, so keep rambling on.

Scrooge? No. I’d rather see the clubs budgets used to help supporters rather than given a disposable item. In your current residence don’t football clubs work with their local transport services to provide free transport? What about that for assistance?

I don't have to justify my opinion to you mate.

Fair enough bud. Happy Christmas. Sorry you don’t like the freebies. I was genuinely interested in why you feel certain groups are discouraged in favour of families.

Clappers are costing five figures a game. There was at one point the mention of £250k per season. If each beer/doughnut/mince pie costs 50p that’s £16k. Scarves cost a bit more than a few pennies but every year they have had a handout for roughly 2,000 away supporters at one away game.

I’d rather see that money allocated to stadium expansion yes. Enable more fans to watch the team regardless how small that sum must be?

You know now what other clubs do for their fans to help out their support? The likes of Chelsea and Spurs charter trains to help their away support. Southampton secured a sponsor to get their tickets cheaper. Travel to home games is provided by some clubs in differing forms or by dicussing with the travel authorities about extra services.

My point is these handouts are cheap ways to please supporters when the club could do a lot more.

Still peanuts but fair enough.

Tbf if we were duscussing it in person I'd be more than happy to explain my views. But if I were to say anything anti LCFC or anti certain people at the club then someone would almost certainly take it as an afront to the owners and I'd get dug out left right and centre lol
