Just moved to Stoneygate so unsure what the best option is now. Probably walk via the Old Horse/Dry Dock?

Service in Dry Dock is shocking on a match day.

Its a crying shame pubs with character and tradition like the 'Swan' and to a lesser extent the 'Font' go but 'The Local Hero' lives on.

Thanks to work, I have had a good chat with a few fair landlords recently. There are two surges in the 'market' so to speak which pull people in. Craft beer/variety of ales and food. If you don't sell food you are struggling to get people in. The vast majority of pubs are owned by the big breweries such as Newcastle & Scottish/Punch - they will offer the landlords certain beers, they can not sell anyone other beer than the approved list. All ordering has to come through them. It's a travesty because of course something like Carling has a very much low profit margin on it for the landlord.

Can't comment on the font as not used it in years. But I think the problem with the swan was it didn't appeal to the student market.

The Font did appeal but students didn't want it. No sport bit of a drawback on that. If Narborough Road end, I have started going in the Black Horse as the Western is chaos.

Personally I stay in the centre of town say QoB, Brewdog or The Globe then walk across town. Sometimes the Kings Head or Brood can be a middle point.

Black Horse is struggling, apparently.

Not surprised. Brauny Gate has changed so much. Doesn't bode well for the Western.
