If you don't sell food you are struggling to get people in. The vast majority of pubs are owned by the big breweries such as Newcastle & Scottish/Punch - they will offer the landlords certain beers, they can not sell anyone other beer than the approved list. All ordering has to come through them. It's a travesty because of course something like Carling has a very much low profit margin on it for the landlord.
