It's a job he does rarely, but he always gets that gig. It's a big local derby and they're getting a player who played for one and is clearly biased to sit and call it throughout the match. Weird choice when they use so many commentators like Neville, Provin, Carragher and Smith. I'm sure Neville has done Utd vs Liverpool before as well McManaman seems to do all BT Liverpool games too which is annoying.
Izzy Posted 27 August 2017 Posted 27 August 2017 On a slightly separate note, I think Thierry Henry on Sky today was superb. Balanced, honest, smart and unbiased. Great player, great pundit.

I can cope with Neville because he seems to be able to take a neutral stance. Also he's used regularly on other games. Quinn is barely used, then twice a year they drag him out for the Newcastle Sunderland match.
FoyleFox Posted 28 August 2017 Posted 28 August 2017 BT coverage is painful. Hargreaves was being very complimentary about Maguire, best player on the pitch he said, about 2 minutes before he gave Pogba MOM....

Hargreaves isn't the worst but he isn't very good. If I was responsible for getting together a team of pundits, Jermaine Jenas would be my first choice. He is very good.

Yes but all pundits need to refer to their time at a club to pad out the chatty bits. Neville can do it because Man Utd have been pants pretty much since he left, so isn't then looking bitter. That aside, Spurs are a good team too, so talking about them positively is part of the job if they are playing well.

whoareyaaa Posted 28 August 2017 Posted 28 August 2017 The commentator on NBC must have received a plug from Mahrez's agent they way he was talking him up.
