urban.spaceman Posted 30 September 2017 Posted 30 September 2017 20 years ago today. Leicester City 0 - 2 Atletico Madrid. The worst refereeing performance I have ever or will ever witness. And for 20 years, the best atmosphere I had ever experienced. I was sat righto next to the Kop in returned Away tickets in the East Stand. Not only did the Kop not shut up all night but they got the East Stand on its feet with the roof keeping all the noise in. The dodgy ref definitely helped with the sheer noise factor (my dad still laughs at the memory of my 12 year old selfs unbroken voice shouting "the wefewees a willy puller"). For 20 years this was the best experience I'd ever had at a football match. Until Sevilla. Best. Birthday. Ever.
Brenfox Posted 30 September 2017 Posted 30 September 2017 I agree the atmosphere was incredible that night. One that really sticks in the memory.
ZeGuy Posted 30 September 2017 Posted 30 September 2017 Boy I was 17. my first year in the university. Didn't watch the game though.

joachim1965 Posted 30 September 2017 Posted 30 September 2017 Was in the east stand , it was fantastic.
RODNEY FERNIO Posted 30 September 2017 Posted 30 September 2017 Jeez 20 year ago ! Come in a taxi I remember shouting at the Atletico fans as there were only a handful of them there.
Chico1958 Posted 1 October 2017 Posted 1 October 2017 20 tears ago.............. wow Where did the time go 1st March 1973 The team that made me love this club 44 years ago
Sir Shep Posted 1 October 2017 Posted 1 October 2017 I was in the double decker and I remember the whole stand wanting to kill the ref after he sent Parker off. Still back then I remember thinking, well that's it, never playing in Europe again!
Karljohn Posted 1 October 2017 Posted 1 October 2017 I think it was Muzzy that was fouled 3 times in the box, at least two of them were so clear cut I remember the utter disbelief of everyone around me. They only bought a couple of hundred I think and short of serving up half time Paella I felt the club made them feel too welcome, playing Spanish music pre match etc. They treated us like shite in the first leg.
Guest MattP Posted 1 October 2017 Posted 1 October 2017 The ground was sensational that night, up there with the Cambridge 5-0 game for atmosphere. We were absolutely robbed, Jesus Gil, absolute bastard.
FoxesDeb Posted 1 October 2017 Posted 1 October 2017 Absolutely agree it was the best home atmosphere I'd ever been in, until Sevilla. Don't think I've ever felt so angry with a ref since either, it was so obviously fixed and on a lesser occasion it would have been laughable. The welcome we gave them really pissed me off too, we got bricks thrown at us and they got traditional fvcking music.
