Louise Posted 13 October 2005 Posted 13 October 2005 Injury Tonic For Levein Craig Levein will have a near fully fit squad to choose from ahead of Saturday's Championship clash against Watford at Vicarage Road (3pm). The Foxes boss has endured a frustrating season to date - with injuries and suspensions thwarting his attempts to field a consistent line-up. But Levein confirmed at his pre-match press conference on Thursday that he would at last face something of a selection headache ahead of the game. He said: "We are now just about at the stage where everyone is fit, which is good news. "Rab Douglas has been back in training this week and is available for selection, while Mark de Vries is also fit to start the game. "Richard Stearman picked up an ankle injury during the Derby match but is also fine, so apart from James Wesolowski and Lee Morris we are just about there." Levein will welcome Paddy McCarthy back from suspension, although Alan Maybury has one more match to serve after he was sent off in the match against Queens Park Rangers. The Foxes go into the game looking to pick up their first away league victory of the campaign - having gone so close against Derby a fortnight earlier. The two sides battled out a 2-2 draw in the corresponding fixture last season - Stephen Hughes grabbing his first goal for the club on the night. http://www.lcfc.premiumtv.co.uk/page/News/...~726307,00.html Levein says that everyone is fit apart from Weso and Morris (for those complaining about us never hearing about him, he's now had a mention). Maybury and Smith are suspended. So what do you think the team will be? What do you hope it will be? Will we make mass changes again? I think the team will be: Douglas Stearman Johansson Gerrbrand Kisnorbo Hughes Gudjonsson Williams Tiatto Hume de Vries Subs: Henderson, McCarthy, Hammond, Sylla, Gilbert If I was picking though I'd put Wilcox on the left, Hughes in the middle and I suppose put Sylla on the right. Dropping Williams and Tiatto to the bench.
King Kyle lcfc Posted 13 October 2005 Posted 13 October 2005 Douglas Stearman Johansson Gerrbrand Gilbert (Thought he played well for Wales earlier in the week) Sylla Gudjohnson Hughes Hamill Hume De-Vries
Cal Posted 13 October 2005 Posted 13 October 2005 Douglas Stearman Gerrbrand Nissa Sheehan Sylla Gudjohnsson Hughes Hammill Hume Hammond
Guest Gist Posted 13 October 2005 Posted 13 October 2005 I would go for : Douglas stearman gerrbrand/dublin nisse sheehan sylla huges joey tiatto hume hammond
Guest Gist Posted 13 October 2005 Posted 13 October 2005 CL seems to like kisnorbo alot what do you all think of him?
Cal Posted 13 October 2005 Posted 13 October 2005 He's average from what ive seen. Id like to see Sheehan get in ahead of him though.
Mark Posted 13 October 2005 Posted 13 October 2005 Hume and Hammond definately deserve another chance, Elvis was unlucky not to score twice in the second half against Derby. Henderson Gerrbrand Dublin Johansson Sheehan Sylla Gudjohnson Hughes Tiatto Hume Hammond Subs: Douglas, McCarthy, De Vries, Williams, Stearman
supedaj Posted 13 October 2005 Posted 13 October 2005 i think he'll play both McCarthy and De Vries - probably in place of Gerrbrand and Hammond in above team...
Anish Posted 13 October 2005 Posted 13 October 2005 I'd like to see: Henderson Stearman Gerrbrand Johansson Sheehan Sylla Hughes Joey G Tiatto Hammond Hume
davieG Posted 13 October 2005 Posted 13 October 2005 I think CL's intentions are to have Kisnorbo as his midfield blocker so it's just a matter of time and having confidence in a left back before he replaces Joey. As Gilbert appearsto have had a good international performance I can see him playing. On that basis I think the following is his preferred team, with appropriate adjustments for suspensions. Rab Stearman / to be replaced by Maybury Gerrbrand Nissa Gilbert Sylla / to be replaced by Smith Kisnorbo Hughes Tiatto MDV Hammond Subs Henderson, Dublin/McCarthy, Joey, Hume, Williams
Libertine Posted 13 October 2005 Posted 13 October 2005 Hume and Hammond definately deserve another chance, Elvis was unlucky not to score twice in the second half against Derby. Absolutely right. Is douglas defo back for watford? He is, but I hope CL sticks with Henderson because he has done nothing wrong so far.
Gené and Tonic Posted 13 October 2005 Posted 13 October 2005 -----------------------Douglas------------------- -Stearman---McCarthy--Nisse----Sheehan------ ----Sylla------Gudjohnsson--Hughes-------Tiatto--- ---------------Hume-----------De Vries----------------
Guest Gist Posted 13 October 2005 Posted 13 October 2005 I would like douglas to come straight back into the startin 11 not that henderson has played bad just that he cant claim crosses and dont seem to be as confident around is area as much as rab
Ric Flair Posted 14 October 2005 Posted 14 October 2005 I'd like to see: Henderson Stearman Gerrbrand Johansson Sheehan Sylla Hughes Joey G Tiatto Hammond Hume I'd be well happy with that team. It has pace, agression and a sprinkling of talent aswell. Not really a weak link in the team with everyone playing in their correct position. Won't happen though, Levein has never picked a team with everyone playing in their specialised position.

Not really a weak link in the team with everyone playing in their correct position. Won't happen though, Levein has never picked a team with everyone playing in their specialised position. I think we'll see Hughes in midfield now he's match fit: form the OS Craig Levein says he is close to solving his midfield puzzle as the Foxes prepare to take on Watford at Vicarage Road this weekend. The City boss goes into Saturday's game with an almost fully fit squad on the back of the two-week international break. And Levein believes that the improved fitness of Stephen Hughes, who missed the early part of the season with an ankle injury, could prove to be a major catalyst for the Foxes. He said: "I have an identikit in my mind of what we are looking for in midfield. What has happened on a number of occasions this season is players have either been injured or suspended, or have been coming back from injury and playing but not quite performing to the best of their ability. "Now, the likes of Stephen Hughes, who has been out for a while but has played a few games, is just about there. I expect him to be ready to pick up from where he left off last season. That would certainly help. "I have a midfield in mind for Saturday. The balance should be right so now we need people to perform to the best of their ability." Levein also faces something of a selection quandary in attack, with either Iain Hume or Elvis Hammond in line to partner big Dutchman Mark de Vries. He added: "Mark is fine and either Elvis or Iain will partner him on Saturday. There is still time for either of those players to prove to me who should start the game." Levein admitted that he cannot wait to get back into the action once again, and confirmed that his side had put their enforced break to good use. He said: "It seems to be forever since we last played and that is the case every time these international breaks come around. We are desperate to get started again. "We haven't had as many players away on international duty this time which has been better. We have managed to do a lot more on the training ground and hopefully we will see the benefits of that on Saturday. "I'm not looking for an awful lot different from the team with regards to performances, we just need results now. "At Derby, especially in the second half, we played very well. We had numerous opportunities to score goals but didn't capitalise on our superior amount of chances. That's the type of thing we need to do - we need to turn those chances into goals."
Nationwider Posted 14 October 2005 Posted 14 October 2005 I think we'll line up: Douglas Stearman Gerrbrand Johansson Kisnorbo Sylla Gudjonsson Hughes Tiatto Hume De Vries Subs: Henderson, McCarthy, Dublin, Williams, Hammond
Hitesh Posted 14 October 2005 Posted 14 October 2005 Douglas ----------- Stearman Gerrbrand Johansson Kisnorbo ----------- Sylla Gudjonsson Hughes Tiatto ----------- Hume de Vries Subs: Henderson, McCarthy, Hammond, Williams, Dublin I cant see him playing Sylla but i think that we need Hughes in the middle rather than out on the right.
Ric Flair Posted 14 October 2005 Posted 14 October 2005 I hope Gerrbrand plays but I can only see him being selected at right back if Stearman isn't fully fit. I can't see Levein dropping Dublin or leaving McCarthy out over Gerrbrand. Once Tote gets his chance though I think he'll be hard to remove and alot more reliable than the the two mentioned.
shadowman Posted 14 October 2005 Posted 14 October 2005 i would play: Goal: Douglas Defence: Stearman patrick mcarthy Gerrband Gilbert Midfiled: Momo Williams Hughs Kisnobo Strikers: Hume Hammond
shep Posted 14 October 2005 Posted 14 October 2005 I'd play 4-3-3, (its a shame Ryan Smith is suspended) HENDERSON STEARMAN DUBLIN GERRBRAND TIATTO GUDJOHNSSON HUGHES WILLIAMS HAMMOND HUME DE VRIS
Cobbo Posted 14 October 2005 Posted 14 October 2005 I would like to see: ----------------------Douglas Stearman---Johansson---Gerrbrand---Sheehan Hammond--Gudjonsson---Hughes-----Wilcox -----------------Hume-----de Vries Subs: Henderson, Dublin, Sylla, Williams, Hamill But I think it will be: ---------------------Douglas Gerrbrand----Dublin----Johansson--Kisnorbo Sylla--------Hughes--Gudjonsson---Tiatto ---------------de Vries--Hume Subs: Henderson, Hammond, Stearman, Hamill, Williams
lush Posted 14 October 2005 Posted 14 October 2005 I would like to see: ------------------------hendo Stearman---Johansson---Gerrbrand---Sheehan --sylla-------maybury------Hughes-----hamill -----------------Hume-----hammond Subs: douglas, gudjohnson, Williams, tiatio, deep freeze de lump But I think it will be: -----------------------Douglas Stearman----Gerrbrand----Johansson--Kisnorbo Sylla--------Hughes--Gudjonsson---Tiatto ---------------de Vries--Hume Subs: Henderson, Hammond, Stearman, Hamill, Williams I hope we attack well, dont think it will happen with that bunch
Cobbo Posted 14 October 2005 Posted 14 October 2005 As odd as Maybury in midfield is, you won't be able to see it as he's suspended.
lush Posted 14 October 2005 Posted 14 October 2005 In that case hendo stearman gerrbrand johanson sheehan sylla hughes tiatio hamill hammond hume 5 attacking players designed to encourage "hangers on" to visit filbert way after word of mouth. Maybe if we attack more, we`ll win?
