The 33-year-old said depression and 'self-destructive curiosity' drove him to visit 'dogging' sites, places where couples watch each other having sex in cars. Advertisement Ex-England striker Stan added: 'What I have done is disgusting and I'm so ashamed, but I'm only human. I can only beg for forgiveness. 'Over the last couple of years I have been to dogging sites maybe a dozen to 15 times and yes I have taken part and had sex during them. 'My only hope is that the people I know and love can find it in their hearts to forgive me.' He revealed his devastated wife Estelle is threatening to leave him after he admitted what he had done. Stan said: 'I am absolutely devastated at the hurt I have caused everyone. To my family and to Estelle's family. 'Estelle is furious but incredibly calm. I can't believe I've caused her all this hurt.' Stan claimed he visited a dogging site on Saturday near his home in Cannock, Staffs, after reading about the activity on the internet. He added: 'I went up there of my own free will.' Using the name 'John', he was spotted talking to a couple who quizzed him about the activity and asked for further information. He told them what he had read and swapped numbers with them. Last night he received a text from the man saying: 'My wife wants to get f****d tonight. She's a bit nervous. Will you meet her at 8 o'clock?' Stan said: 'I'm on the internet a lot doing research for work. 'The last six months, there's been a phenomenon called dogging. I read all about it. 'Up the road from me is a big country park called Cannock Chase. I found out what it was, couples, exhibitionists. I originally spoke to a production company about doing it for a documentary. 'I went three nights ago. I have a telly in my car. Sat up there in the car park and within half an hour there was a local couple in a Range Rover. 'The husband wanted to see his wife with another guy. We got chatting. They then said they would be up there the next night. We exchanged mobile numbers. I went up the next night. 'It was fascinating. I got chatting to them. A car pulled into my left. 'They had their interior lights on so I wound my window down and she said 'hi'. I was fully clothed. She swung her legs out of the car towards me and I said: 'What are you up to?' They said they were new to it. I laughed and said: 'There's no hard and fast rules. I've been on the internet loads of times. There's a code. Some couples like to be watched, some couples like to participate. 'The guy leant over and said: 'We were hoping to meet another couple.' 'We swapped numbers. I said: 'Good luck'. I got back in the car and said: 'There's two or three car parks on your way back. I'll show you. I put my arm out at each car park and showed them and that was it.' Stan, who is still being treated for depression added: 'I confronted Estelle and admitted it. My marriage has been brilliant. We've settled. I have a beautiful daughter. She said: I'm leaving. It's not acceptable being unfaithful or watching. 'The fact that I've lied to her is unforgivable. I'm gutted. I'm gutted for my mum, and for her mum and dad who are pillars of the community. I was curious about what happened. 'Estelle and I have had our ups and downs so for something like this to come up is reaffirming her worst fears. I've got no justification. 'I hope and pray I can save my marriage. Estelle is very upset. She's in tears tonight. We've chatted.' His agent Simon Kennedy said: 'Dogging is an activity which Stan has been involved in. 'He believes somebody he has been watching or participating with over the last few weeks has tipped off a newspaper. 'He has hurt himself and he knows he has hurt his family. He's not a child molester. He's committed no crime.' Stan actually spoke to a production company to make a doc on dogging He just keeps getting better and better . He makes out he's so ashamed and sorry for all his family and friends and then go's on into so much detail its untrue. utter legend

And another cracking story that acts as a free full-page advertisement which could well turn dogging into a national sport. Don't know why the journalists don't tell their own stories instead of upsetting other people's wives and daughters. Now that would make some interesting reading. Are you sitting comfortably......

He's written a book, it's one of the best books i've ever read. The man is compelling and although he brings alot of trouble to himself he is very harshly treated by the media. I know he slapped Ulrika and that is bang out of order but he only hit her once and ever since has been apologising for it. Hitting women is extremely out of order and I don't agree with it but considering Gazza has repeatedly beaten up his wife and is made out to be a national hero is shocking. There are others out there that have knocked about women and aren't seen in the same light as Stan and none of them other than Gazza perhaps had the same talents in their profession as Collymore had. He's a legend and very mis-understood. It's obvious he's got mental issues, but the media don't seem interested in that. Just the fact he smacked Ulrika one after she taunted him endlessly.

I agree, although it's not acceptable to hit ANY woman, surely hitting Ulrika is more acceptable compared to thwacking an old Grandma. Anyway I expect she's used to it! She worked on Gladiators, bet she's had plenty of pugel sticks and atlas balls in her face during her time.
