Russia isn't too dissimilar to the UK these days tbh.

Come on!

On Sunday, you had 100k march on London exercising their right to free speech.

In Russia, if you protest in numbers more than 1, the Police had a right to arrest you. 99% of courtcases in Russia lead to convictions.

Both run by dictators.

Paranoid garbage. Factually incorrect and dangerous level of wrong information to arrive at that conclusion.

Protest against Theresa May (what a crap "dictator" btw - not getting the election result she wanted) in London, then protest against Putin in Russia.

Go on a gay pride march in Britain and then go on one in Moscow.

Then see what happens to you and come and tell me it's similar.

Not at all Matt.

Yes, we're obviously some way ahead when it comes to things like Pride, freedom of speech, etc.

But when it comes to funding wars, covering up information, tampering and fixing votes, etc. we're very much on a level.

Our government just isn't as brazen (although not far off these days) as Putin.

What exactly is it that gives you so much trust in the 'establishment'? You seem very at ease with the idea that everything they do has your best interests at heart?

Even the remotest mention of them being somewhat bent and you're jumping to their defense like a model citizen who loves his 'masters'.

Not digging at you mate - that's fine, but I just don't understand why you're so trusting of what is very obviously a corrupt establishment (nothing to do with Tory vs. Labour - just corrupt through and through).

Seriously? Fixing votes? Did you miss the EU referendum in 2016 and the General Election last summer? Both votes from the electorate that destroyed what the establishment demanded. Do you really think they wouldn't have fixed those had they had the desire and means to do so? Of course they would. I can promise you Putin wouldnt be so careless.

As for funding wars, yes we made a major cock up in Iraq, but Russia are widely acknowledged to have played a part in genocide in Aleppo, they have invaded South Ossetia and Ukraine in the last ten years and are the only country in the world to have annexed part of another nation state in our lifetimes.

Sorry but the comparison is just complete cobblers, we have the weakest PM for decades, to try and claim she is or has the power of a dictator like Putin is just insane.

plenty of news kicking about today about how the Brexit vote caused hedge funds to make billions when the pound dropped. plenty of people related to our government who would benefit massively from that.

you still haven't answered my question as to why you bum the establishment so hard though, Matt.

Both run by dictators and both have pockets of horrible, racist, homophobic nationalist thugs.

On the whole though mostly decent people who just want to live an inclusive, happy life but have to suffer the bullshit of the aforementioned above.

Ridiculous comment... Putin doesnt hide the fact that hes a dictator and a cvnt :)

I've met quite a few Russians and they've all been good people tbf.

They have this great quality like the Fins and the Dutch where they just say exactly what the **** they mean and don't mess around, it's great.

talk about blowing your own trumpet.

our politicians dress it up with a bit of old English in a posh voice and people seem to overlook the fact they're happy to send us all off down the river for their own benefit.

it's super brazen tbh but nobody seems to have their eyes open at the minute.

I don't - if I did I would have voted Remain wouldn't I? That was pretty much the whole of the establishment demanding it.

The government, the opposition, the third and fourth parties, the EU, Barack Obama, Goldman Sachs, Soros, the IMF, the CBI, bank of England etc etc all lined up to beg I voted with them, I didn't.

The hysteria was ludicrous before the tournament.

Putin was never going to allow violence to ruin this, his Russia is on show to the World.

Yep, I think Frankie Boyle of all people has done a show for the BBC looking into the Russian hooligan element and failed to get an interview with any of the main gangs in Russian football. Apparently a rather unpleasant wing of the Russian police have been doing the rounds and ahve categorically told them do not talk to any journalists and to not cause as much as scuffle while the tournament is on, or there will be rather severe consequences.

no but you voted the other direction and seem to trust them wholly instead.

I wouldn't trust either as far as I can throw them tbh. lizards and snakes the lot of 'em.
