Thought I would reignite (!) this thread as I have a potentially very basic question that I can’t find an answer for.

For 5 days I have not had any power due to the storm, so I went into my local town and bought a camping stove and a C500 gas bottle so I could limp by and cook basic hot food. It probably had under an hours use, and I think there’s a lot of gas left.

Can I reuse the gas bottle, or should I dispose of it? I don’t know if it’s been pierced and will just leak etc when I take the stove fixing off. it came with no instructions and Google isn’t offering an answer.

I'm no expert but it should be fine I think. I've had a little gas stove for years from before kids when I used to go to festivals. Got it out this year and still worked fine

C500 gas bottle has a screw valve so you can safely take it off the hob and reuse later.

the c500 if I am not mistaken is a butane/ propane mix. Improves the stove efficiency in colder weather. To refill it, I assume you’d need to find somewhere that has that same butane/ propane mix which might be a Problem. personally wouldn’t refill it with anything other than what it was designed for.

Thanks everyone. Have disconnected the stove and stored the gas bottle outside

Is everything ok now? Do you have power?

Yes thanks - it came back on last night approx half time in the Southampton game. So I caught the second half! Truly was a miserable and bleak 5 days though, particularly when young children are involved.
