West Brom have some unbelievable academy players, although 2-3 of them have been nicked this summer.

Following his own path I suppose. He's still very young as a manager and has at least 2 decades in him as a manager. Pearson spent years as an assistant manager before being given a chance at Southampton after various caretaker manager opportunities. Appleton will benefit from a few years experience doing other things.

No brainer for West Brom - they have their next manager waiting in the wings getting to know their youth players in the mean time.

He may well have personal circumstances that mean a job at a club he knows well and in a less pressured atmosphere is the ideal at the moment.
