Vo Rogue Posted 28 October 2005 Posted 28 October 2005 Joey for me. Has realised what he has to do this year and applied himself extremely well to the task. Is fhe most consjstent and a vast improvement on last season.
stulcfc Posted 28 October 2005 Posted 28 October 2005 big paddy mic for me i think this guy will be a legend if he stays but i think if we dont go up this session i can see a prem club bidding for him
Guest Gist Posted 28 October 2005 Posted 28 October 2005 I voted johansson and joey has been impressive
samlcfc1 Posted 28 October 2005 Posted 28 October 2005 has to be joey hes been great this season hes improved alot from last year
Thracian Posted 28 October 2005 Posted 28 October 2005 In the end I chose MDV. Not an elegant player by any means, lambasted by many critics, "abandoned" by his fellow striker Connolly, into training a few weeks early and determined to succceed in harder, faster surroundings and with a brand new set of team mates. Result: leading goalscorer, no defeats when he has been on the mark, all-round effort and concentration, virtually ever-present, goals that kept us in the Cup, goals that kept us out of the relegation places and prepared to still be seen when he's playing badly. If you are naturally brilliant such things might be easy but MDV has had to work on it - and he has. Good for the team, good for the club. An example to all. Well done Mark.
shen Posted 29 October 2005 Posted 29 October 2005 I voted Dublin. I think it's pretty obvious he was a big part in steadying the ship at the back and enable the team to 'concentrate' on scorine goals, if you get my drift. We were a shambles before Dublin moved to the back and we've now turned the corner somewhat, which he must take some credit for. MDV has done the job up front, and while Gudjonsson seems to have been the consistent performer, he hasn't been the player that could change our fortunes while we were down in the dumps.

I hope all Mark de Vries haters are reading that. He's brilliant for us.
BenFilbert Posted 29 October 2005 Posted 29 October 2005 Joey wins.. lush won't be happy Dion second. Lush won't be happy with that either!
Gené and Tonic Posted 29 October 2005 Posted 29 October 2005 Maybe its that lush may be wrong about them.
davieG Posted 29 October 2005 Posted 29 October 2005 Maybe its that lush may be wrong about them. Well he could be right after all Morris isn't listed

Ultra Posted 29 October 2005 Posted 29 October 2005 Wonder what the manager would make of this poll? After all, it's only a couple of weeks since he DROPPED Joey! And I suspect he'd still prefer a central midfield of Hughes and Kisnorbo. I voted for Joey myself, but only because he's been least worst of a pretty mediocre bunch. Let's face it, NONE of the current line-up are likely to grace the Premiership any time soon..

Anish Posted 29 October 2005 Posted 29 October 2005 That's brilliant. I hope all Mark de Vries haters are reading that. He's brilliant for us. You wouldn't be saying that if you saw his performance today.
lush Posted 29 October 2005 Posted 29 October 2005 What have the following 4 posters in this topic got in common? Benji, Scowy, Vo Rogue and Samlcfc1. They all said joey got their vote, and one of the reasons was because hes been an improvement on last season I`d agree, but that aint what the vote is about. How many of the others have voted joey because...? Come on, hands up. Another thing, some have said they didnt vote johanson because hes not been good whilst playing LB. Its not his prefered position, so you cant choose to ignore him on his LB performances.
Thracian Posted 30 October 2005 Posted 30 October 2005 Very fluid poll this. For instance Joey has been our most consistently good player this season but Dion has probably been outstanding in more matches and, now, McCarthy (who started badly) is suddenly shining like a torch with a new battery. MDV remains top scorer (having greatly influenced our wellbeing) yet was awful yesterday and has had other howlers. Overall, although I did vote, I would say there hasn't really been a player of the season cos is hasn't been an outstanding season and there hasn't been an outstanding performer.
lush Posted 30 October 2005 Posted 30 October 2005 Dion has probably been outstanding in more matches Explain to me in footballing terms how dubs has probably been outstanding in more matches? Outstanding?
Thracian Posted 30 October 2005 Posted 30 October 2005 Explain to me in footballing terms how dubs has probably been outstanding in more matches? Outstanding? As in standing out more than the rest. His reading of the game, his authority, his aerial dominance, his organisation of the back line. He has been a rock on many occasions. The irony is I can't see him getting in now at centre-back unless McCarthy or Gerrbrand get injured. Time to get Gerrbrand on your list I reckon.
lush Posted 30 October 2005 Posted 30 October 2005 His reading of the game, his authority, his aerial dominance, his organisation of the back line. His reading of the game may well be very good, but does he put it into practice, ive not seen outstanding reading of the game. What authority? Hes been ok with ariel ability, but not outstanding. He organisies things? Again i dont see outstanding organisation from dubs. You need to do better than that. All you`ve done is provide a discription of an average player. Can you honestly tell me that either macarthy, stearman or johanson at the back, have done less than what you described.
