May be an image of 4 people, outdoors and text that says "TRAFFIC FOR GRANVILLE ROAD KEEP LEFT KEEP MOVING 880746 @BJF 260"

London

That pale coloured building just right of centre with the balconies became Grannies night club where I was DJ 1977-1980.

Not sure what it was in this photo.

Yeah mate crime was only invented in the 1980s

Strewth!  Had a bad day?

I can remember that, probably as recently as the early 70s, I could leave my bike unlocked and it didn't occur to me it wouldn't be there when I got back. That, almost certainly, would not be the case now. In fact, I've even had a locked bike nicked.

There's always been crime, always will be. I believe however, it infiltrates more and more areas as time goes on.

Children in gangs stabbing each other to death means bicycle theft pales in comparision but that demonstrates even more so, a still worsening situation.

Anyway, I hope I haven't distracted from what is a great thread which will, almost certainly, make you reflect on past times, perhaps with rose tinted specticles on occasions, but there's nothing wrong with that.

Talking of  crime.....

May be a black-and-white image of 9 people and outdoors

My dad used to manage local football teams in the 70s. The inmates used to have a team in the league. They only played home games though.

I had a lock nicked. Absolutely true. It was a very expensive one...they left the bike behind.

Those guys look like they could be at a public school, apart from John Reginald Christie, the acid bath murderer, at the top of the photo in the grey suit. lol
