Pretty much is legal in jersey. Just tell the doc you can’t sleep and they’ll prescribe medicann. When we had to pay £25 for a ST  card (or free if disabled) I went to the doc saying I’ve got crippling anxiety and 7 mins later had a weed prescription. Unfortunately lcfc didn’t recognise it as a disability and I had to pay. 
They’ve got a massive public health crisis coming because they’ve made weed freely available to an entire generation, but the ROI is impressive so far so who really cares about people’s health. Some of the stats are shocking and will presumably only get worse

Maybe it should be in Unpopular Opinions because I’m sure it would split the Foxestalk user base, but I hate the smell of cannabis. Absolutely hate it. And it’s everywhere these days. I appreciate it has value for medical reasons and I’m not against that, taken in the right way and form. And I know you don’t make policy based on one person’s opinion but… yeuch.

 

I really hope it’s never legalised but I fear it’s a losing battle.

I agree it's not a nice smell. But then it's no worse than cigarette smoke which is also disgusting.

I hate the smell of salt and vinegar crisps and I feel like vomiting if I'm on public transport and someone is eating them.

It’s disgusting. Not helped by the fact it’s usually smoked by some dead eyed chav who’s been smoking the poison since teens.

 

Never understood why people defend the use of the memory affecting, anxiety and paranoia inducing, addictive drug to such a degree they think it’s harmless. Of you don’t care, fine, but stop justifying it as “no worse than smoking” as what it does to young brains is frightening.

Speaking personally I would certainly not say that it's harmless (there's a body of empirical evidence showing that), but it does have uses within the medical field (which there is also empirical evidence for). 

 

It shouldn't be criminalised, but there should be some civil regulation regarding its use, as there is with other pharmaceutical products, imo.

Had some weed brownies a couple of months back which was probably my first time consuming any weed for about 12 years. Was a very fun 8 hours but not sure I’d want to do it regularly. I sat on the sofa and ate too many snacks giggling at videos of coral reefs on YouTube. That’s all I’ve got to add on the topic of weed really

Then I'm not sure what we're disagreeing about, because I said that firstly it isn't harmless and secondly that it has use as a civilly, rather than criminally, regulated substance in the pharmaceutical sector.

In my case, legalising cannabis would not make any significant difference to my habits. I don't consume weed often because it can make you content with being boring. 

 

I do, however, believe that of people have adequate information, they should be able to have the freedom to choose what they do with their body. I also believe that having a drugs trade which is heavily regulated (including strict regulations on market and advertising) is far more preferable than one that is literally run by criminals.
