Leicester progression

Recommended Posts

I think as a club, the new training facility represents huge progress or certainly it will do. Obviously the city of Leicester (though I love it dearly) might not attract the next tier of player, the promise of world class facilities might.

I know it's been discussed to death but I think the expansion of the stadium would go a huge way to progressing the club. We could fill a 40k stadium, I'm sure.

Absolutely right - we tried to replace Emile Heskey like for like and got Ade Akinbiyi

Looks like we will be signing Pukki when Vardy calls it a day

Leicester might not be the most enticing city to live in, but we're commutable from London and Birmingham. Even Kasper and Danny Simpson have commuted from the North West, which can be as short as a couple of hours or less away.

Within the Midlands, we can be the club to play for - for players who are born and bred in the region and want to base themselves in it to be close to family, just like what has happened with Wes and Maddison. We can entice players who may have grown up 'supporting' our nearest rivals. In the past, Wolves, Villa, Coventry, Forest, Stoke, and Derby have had that over us at different times, but that can be us now.

Squads are made up of all manner of players with differing personalities. For those who aren't fussed by the bright lights of London or bigger cities, there are some lovely areas in the suburbs of Leicester and all around the county.

Prolonged success can attract the very best players as long as options are made available to them and they can live the lifestyle they want.

The owners are building this club into something huge and hopefully this period in our existence can serve as a foundation for what's to follow long after they've sold up and moved on (or, if Top's children's children are in charge).

There will be ups and downs along the way. There will be seasons where it might seem like we're going backwards, but as long as the trend is positive over a sustained period, then slowly we'll be thought of as a 'big club' (whatever that actually means) in the media and among fans, players, and others working in the game.

Infrastructure, such as a world-leading training ground and an expanded stadium that looks bespoke and unique rather than the identikit flat pack stadium we currently have, will all play a part in making us appear to be long-term, serious contenders in the minds of the neutral.

All this is possible and tantalisingly within reach. Cups and titles and European football will strengthen the case, too.

Got excited and felt proud reading this. Top post.

Interesting most people are looking at the CB and keeper position, defending isnt as simple as that anymore, the back players are put under way too much pressure because the midfield isnt winning the ball back before it gets to them.  Also we need to be on the lookout for forward players, cant win games without scoring.
