Good list, I've got my N64 out recently as the only game my partner will play is Mario Kart.

Star Wars: Shadows of the Empire is also a good one! I recently tried to play it on the Jedi difficulty but there's a section on the Ord Mantell train level that's almost impossible!

Yoshi's Story? Sometimes I get the theme tune stuck in my head.

Slow to this thread so apologies!

How have you got your N64 working on a modern TV?

I have 7 other retro consoles hooked up without issue but my N64 will not play ball.

I've tried a scart adapter and the aerial tuner won't find it?

I have yeah, its connected to a LG Smart TV via the aerial cable.

I can remember having a lot of trouble with it, and searching and searching for a tip online. It ended up being channel 36 that played it. I did it all with stuff that I had in the box, I didn't buy any new adaptors online.

On that topic, my N64 recently died. I had no power at all, not even the red LED. I bought an aftermarket power supply  on eBay for about £20 and it did the trick.

My SNES and Megadrive are on C36 and working fine on my LG. Assumed it was my N64 playing up so I bought another with the same result.

Might try a different TV!

You should take a look at Super Game Shack in Silver Arcade next time you are in town shopping, they have a good selection of N64 games there. There's also the various branches of CEX in Leicester, 2 in town and 1 in Beaumont Leys - but they have a smaller selection. Best bet there is to go on the cex website, search the retro gaming section and use the filters to select the stores and see what they have in stock, as quite often with cex they have plenty of retro stuff that is hidden away in the back shelves and not on display where you can spot it.

If you end up browsing eBay as well, might be worth having a gander at price charting.com, they collate info based on completed eBay sales, so you can get an idea of what the average price stuff sells at is, so you have a reasonable idea how far to go when you are bidding on stuff. Good luck on your game hunting!

Never been to Super Game Shack but after a quick look at their Facebook I shall definitely be popping in there next week whilst I am off!

Definitely one of the most fun shops to visit in town. I came across it the first time whilst doing desperate Christmas shopping to find a present for my Mum. An exciting find but a very unnecessary distraction from the aim of the trip at the time though lol

Some of the iconic games carry value though. Same with PS1 games that I got rid of many years ago, now sell.

We are in the same position as we were having a clear out the other day and found my gf's Nintendo 64. No games though. Not sure where to start looking to get just the one game as I'm guessing they hold value on eBay.

They do hold their value, but some games are more so than others. Smash bros and majora's mask are probably the most expensive big releases, stuff like lylat wars, wave race etc is the cheaper end. Old football games tend to be the cheapest third party games.

If you are after just one cart, and don't mind getting loose carts, then cex is probably the cheapest option - you can at least check the stock in local branches on the website, and the prices are standard, so if a local cex doesn't have what you want, you can at least see how much they charge elsewhere so you don't end up overpaying. eBay tends to be more (and on N64 carts you are likely to end up paying a couple of quid postage too) - use pricecharting.com to get a feeling for how much stuff normally sells for (just make sure to click on the PAL version when searching)

@CountesthorpeFox1 had a quick look on CEX website - Gallowtree gate store has loose Goldeneye for £6. Looks like they have Mario 64 and Mario Kart 64 in stock as well atm.

I still have my N64 and around 40 games. All with boxes and manuals still in excellent condition. I keep meaning to sell them online as some of them are worth a few quid (not got the really valuable ones though).
