Palace was the best.

I swear that everyone who was there said time stood still and the whole place was silent as the winner went in.

I can still picture Nigel Martyn in slow motion watching the ball pass him.

The “time stood still” part felt very true.

I think it was because I was sitting in the direct line of the shot, so could just see the ball slowly getting larger and larger as it came closer.

Could see it was going in as soon as he hit it, but was waiting an eternity for the net to actually ripple, not a single player seemed to move after it was struck, and it just didn’t seem real.

Anyone on here attend all the 60's finals?

69 Final, aged 14 .Mam sewed my 12/6d ticket (62 1/2p) into my inside pocket of my school blazer

( I knew how to dress for a trip to London!)

Sat on the steps outside afterwards and sobbed my heart out. Had to wait for the 7.30pm train home, all my mates had gone on the earlier train. I met a young lad wearing a Chelsea scarf (?) and we sat and had a hot dog together at Wembley tube. I well remember him saying, in his London accent  "Never mind mate next time you`ll win it"

Wonder if he`s still around?.......wonder if he might be right!

Like it was yesterday! I was stopped in my rant about ‘Why the fvck have we brought Kalak on??’ when Claridge shinned in the winner and suddenly it really didn’t matter any more.

1969 for me - I still have the ticket stub and tear stained programme :(

The cup final game was traditionally the last game of the domestic season, but we still had 5 games to play due to postponements earlier in the season. It would either be us or Coventry who would be relegated and Coventry had completed their games. We managed to complete the 5 games in hand in 3 weeks but sadly fell short in the very last game.

It was rumoured that Andy Lochhead head butted Alan Clarke in the dressing room after the cup final - but it’s just a rumour
