Interesting watch but nothing surprising.

The Derby supporter made me.smile when he said he wanted only 'clean money' at his club. You sure about that dude?

I suspect most supporters would gleefully accept hard cash, almost regardless of source.

Most PL clubs are a good investment…. The expectation is that at some point in the future, clubs will be able to run on PPV basis via their own channels.  That’s gonna create a lot of dosh, especially if only clubs are able to sell their home games and not away fixtures.

I think investing in any football club is a lottery. You can get everything right but at the end of the day you need your players and manager to perform when it matters most.

The income stream is only there if you're an established PL club. One bad season and there could be no way back financially for an owner, whereas in any other industry you can recover as you aren't directly competing against other firms. Plus if you've got players tied up into long contracts it's a cash burden whereas in other lines of work the redundancy pay is minimal in comparison.

Tbf you have to be sceptical as to why people would buy top football clubs with 100% genuine and legitimate intentions. You're almost guaranteed to lose money, so why would you do it unless you've got an affinity to the club.

We could be classed differently as we were bought when we were still in the Championship and had great potential to grow and make money for the owners. But no one is ever sure what the source of funds are for any owners, so it could be laundered money?

..who had heard of King Power prior to them coming here!!!

Great way to get a brand out there and at a very reasonable price as well.

We are probably picking up more revenue from our new sponsorship than it cost King Power to buy the club.

I think we are the exception with the success we've had, of the way we've increased our sponsorship income, shirt sales and overall brand awareness.

A good example of what can happen is watching that Sunderland documentary on why and how football ownership can go wrong and the strain om cashflow of keeping a club afloat. It's more likely imo that this will happen as there can only be a few number of teams that can call themselves established PL teams. A lot of smaller prem and championship clubs are owned by multi millionaire/billionaires but still struggle for success.

...what I was alluding to was that getting your name out there in a first tier league would have been reason to invest in the club!!!

The commercial side regarding making their brand visible in perhaps the biggest sporting  arena has, seemingly been justified.

Not sure the value of the new sponsorship deal but we (the club)were bought for £35m, I  would say that was a shrewd investment on their part.

‘The Men Who Sell Football’

Has anyone watched this?

Its very interesting, I remember rumours years ago that we had a secret investor behind Vichai and this documentary has both reminded me of that and made me realise how possible it actually is/was.

Does anyone else recollect rumours of this secret investor and was it ever rubbished or proven?

Edited to say that Leicester are not mentioned in the documentary at all.

Thanks, interesting and enjoyed that.

Yet again leaves me gobsmacked that anyone trusts our governments, corporations and the entire unbridled capitalism system.

We are the fools in all of this.

Step forward the Newcastle fans celebrating the prospect of a Saudi buyout.

Mike Ashley is a toilet bowl of a man, but I'm not sure he's ever been involved in executing gay people, banning women from travelling without a man's permission or destabilizing entire continents through proxy wars.

Don't get me wrong, Sports Direct is a horrid organisation that treats its staff like crap, but he's Mother Theresa compared to the people the Geordies are practically begging the courts to let take them over.

It's sportswashing. Which is something very different to a situation like ours, where the primary goal was simply to grow King Power's brand outside of its home market.

Am I naive enough to believe that King Power are squeaky clean? Not at all. I'm fully aware of their ties to the monarchy and government in Thailand, and that to many Thai people they represent a system that is openly despised. But again, in the hierarchy of things, I'd far rather have a Duty Free firm with a few suspect airport monopolies in charge of us than some of the genuinely abhorrent people bankrolling clubs with actual blood money.
