Thracian Posted 23 November 2005 Posted 23 November 2005 Just like to emerge from the pit of frustration to say a great big WELL DONE to Joey. Ironically and reluctantly, I wouldn't have found a place for him in the side last night but, then again, I had no idea he could actually play like that. I've always seen him as a solid, reliable destroyer, with a decent shot on odd occasions and suspect passing ability. Last night he went bombing towards their box like a Duracell-sponsored terrier while still finding energy to do his day job. I loved the way he grabbed that penalty and took responsibility, then kept driving forward for his hat-trick. There was no sitting onhis laurels. I gave him 8.5 marks but seriously thought about a 10 because I cannot imagine he will ever play better than that. Hope he'll also accept my apologies for even thinking of leavinghim out of the side for Twatto (which I'd only have done as support for Sheehan, but still). Anyway I was wrong but sure as hell don't take as long as Levein to admit it. Top bombing. Keep it up pal.

I agree and i think he will play even better with Hughes next to him instead of Levein's bum boy Well done Joey
Ric Flair Posted 23 November 2005 Posted 23 November 2005 I thought Gudjonsson was shocking before he scored, but after that he was immense and he's a diamond for us at the minute. He does seem to be our only outlet from the centre of midfield at the minute and we are relying on him, keep it up Ice Man.
Jimmy Posted 23 November 2005 Posted 23 November 2005 yes as joey did it all game smith did it in spells, though both were great
Ultra Posted 23 November 2005 Posted 23 November 2005 Last night he showed glimpses of the Premiership player that he once was. Indeed, he had to in order to cover for the numerous shortcomings around him. And he's been our player of the season to date. I'm glad his contribution is being recognised. But I hope he doesn't end up being sold to a team with higher ambitions.

Ric Flair Posted 23 November 2005 Posted 23 November 2005 he'll get a new 1 by then If a better team doesn't put the feelers out for him first.
Manwell Pablo Posted 23 November 2005 Posted 23 November 2005 If a better team doesn't put the feelers out for him first. TBH I think thats prolly the only reason he's playing so well.
lush Posted 23 November 2005 Posted 23 November 2005 Contract up in the summer he can walk for free. Thank fook for that. We just cannot afford him.
holly Posted 23 November 2005 Posted 23 November 2005 i love him, i think he is quality, i want him to stay till end of his career, he always gives 100% and last night was another fine example of this and also and example of how is a true blue, he never quits! plays with the passion that we all love
lush Posted 23 November 2005 Posted 23 November 2005 he always gives 100% and last night was another fine example of this, he never quits! I agree with that atleast.
davieG Posted 23 November 2005 Posted 23 November 2005 Well he's not been one of my favourites, but after the first 20 minutes, when the whole team was dreadful he explode into the game like, well I can't do metaphors like Thracian and Ric but you know what I mean. That formation of Kisnorbo and Joey was not really two defensive midfielders as Joey was definately playing a forward attacking role, not only was he popping up in and on the edge the penalty area he could also be spotted taking up a right wing position. Kisnorbo was virtually an addional centre back. It would seem to me that with the apparent demise of Williams, the lack of fitness of Hughes, the reluctance to play Hume in an attacking central midfield role that Joey has been pressed ganged into this position - whether he can do it effectively and consistantly, who knows. It does have some advantages when we lose the ball as he can track back and turn defensive again. On the other hand it becomes much easier for the team to slip back into an ultra defensive mode which is what happened in the second half as Joey drifted further and further back.
The People's Hero Posted 23 November 2005 Posted 23 November 2005 Yeah but he scored twice. Imagine the bollo cking he got from CL! And before any of you cretins say anything, it's a joke ok? So before you post about how amazing CL is and how grateful we should feel for a point, just don't bother.
Cat Burger Posted 23 November 2005 Posted 23 November 2005 LEVEIN AM GOD GUDJONSSON AM FAILING TOTAL!
