"andy from long eaton" has just been on, and not many like him, but he tells it from his heart. Birch just completely rubbished him, and cut him off on purpose. Birch reckons he tells it how it is, hes a "fan", but as andy pointed out, it costs us the fans alot of money compared to how much we earn, and its FREE for birch. If birch was a "fan", he`d want to know what andy (a longer supporter of city than him) has to say, SURELY, regardless of whether its "doom and gloom", as the programme is about GIVING fans a voice. Ive always been of the opinion, that a representative of the club can never give a balanced view of our club, and birch`s ranting at andy showed just how different he is from a "fan".

When things arnt going city`s way, a dedicated fan gets critisized for airing his views on a radio programme that ASKS for such a thing. Hell, this very show almost begs for people to do what andy did, birch himself jokes theres only 2 listening. The birch is such a fan, but he cannot pronounce a current city players name correctly "tiatio", and he didnt even know what year manyoo won the CL. He comes on the radio as if some sort of world class entertainer, defends the company (lcfc) who pays his wages, and cannot understand how a paying customer who helps pay his wage, could possibly have an opinion thats different to him. The show is a nonsense, when a dedicated fan is shouted down by a paid earner.

And I certainly don't like to hear him swearing into a microphone in front of women and children. Doubtless I'm being old fashioned but I think it is undignified. We're not talking about a passionate, heat-of-the-moment reaction (when I'm as likely to curse as the next guy) but a PR exercise on behalf of the club with 18,000 guests listening in. He should have been setting an example.

Shipman Out Posted 24 November 2005 Posted 24 November 2005 In this Political Correctness Nanny State we have to suffer blandness and shades of grey everywhere so i like the Birch (as i like Rodney Marsh) i think there funny on the radio but birch wont slag off the team though cos he works with them everyday which is a bit daft considering how they have been playing. People are getting pissed off cos when you hear Leveins post match interview your like "WHAT!" the first time i noticed this was after Blackburn last year. The fans watch the game and are to clued up to swallow that shite "there were positives"

When has he ever done that on the radio? What about your comments in attacking lcfc? Does anyone have to praise anything on the radio? Andy says he`s a sth, just like you, isnt that good enough? If he`s prepared to go out of his way to que up to talk on tut air, then surely he`s a "supporter", WHO CARES. (matron, go get my tin hat would you please, jolly good)
